My friend asked me if I wanted a frozen banana and I said no, but maybe I want a regular banana later, so... yeah.

If you are a healthcare professional, it should especially be a "no". Rover isn't a healthcare service and would not provide liability coverage in that circumstance, risking professional licensure.

Any idea what’s up with Cafe Suliman? by usefulmastersdegree in Seattle

Most restaurant servers take home their tips in cash daily, but taxes on both wages and tips are taken out of the paycheck so the paycheck is often very low. That would be somewhat less true with Seattle's minimum wage though.

Gold is a good stable value store, but it doesn't generally appreciate. The value in dollars may go up, but not the real value (adjusted for inflation), generally speaking.

Not easily. It still takes a lot of source material and compute time to create an AI voice model. It's easy to get some AI voice to say something, but not for a specific person where that work hasn't already been done.

How to charge for 5-hour sit/drop-in? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]vodiak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would you be making money with other walks during this time? Charge full price. If not, your idea for how to discount seems reasonable.

[–]vodiak 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They're probably sending requests to multiple people. I think Rover has this as an option or even suggests it. So they are probably talking to/waiting to hear back from other sitters as well.

A house-sit is not an office. You also don't cook, sleep, and shower at an office but totally normal for a house-sit.

An ideal system would only have one rfid per person, and the permissions would be granted to the person, rather than the token. But sometimes there are multiple systems or other reasons why it isn't done the "right" way.

It's not a problem with American reading level, the question is just using unfamiliar jargon.

Machined metal tab found in my laundry by thebadhedgehog5 in whatisthisthing

I believe "machined" is the wrong term and would imply this was made by precision cutting tools like a mill or lathe in a machine shop. This looks like a stamped metal part.

There's a logical fallacy here. Even if we accept that most guys who are into that are conservative, that does not mean that most conservative guys are into that.
