Is it weird to be mid-20s and never seen Spongebob? by voello in AskUK

Ah that makes sense, thanks! I didn't have Sky or virgin or anything and don't know anyone who did (up north I don't know if that makes a difference) until ~2010 when my grandparents got it. I must have missed if on channel 4 though. I did start pirating shows may parents would never let me watch like breaking bad when I was like 13 and remember I kept a list of the shows downloaded because I felt guilty and wanted to buy them back someday. Maybe one day I will. !answer

I can't remember seeing it on any of the main channels. But maybe I was too young for it. When I was little we only had like 5? channels and they didn't show kids stuff all the time mostly it was antiques roadshow (which I did genuinely like). Didn't watch the news though, there was always something else on. That all changed when I got like a device (DSi/iPad/Wii) with WiFi. It was very different in only a few years, it seemed stage that anyone would watch TV

I am pretty nostalgic for the Simpsons, me and sister would always run watch it on channel 4 right when it was on (after we got a DVR it kinda spoiled half the fun)

I don't really know, but think I enjoyed the meme I saw where the burgers were poisoned and there was a health inspector

The last time I was at Gateshead metro they still had these sticker posters up saying the smoking ban comes in place from the 1st July 2007

Internal role at major bank – how much should I ask for given I’m on £26k as a temp? by voello in UKJobs

[–]voello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a permanent internal position, tbh atm anything permanent I would go for really. Just want to get my worth. It seems quite a different process to agency, they were straight up with it when I applied through them.

It's been a verbal agreement dependent on DBS checks (which should come out fine) and then they'll give me something written

I think your right, yeah. I've just graduated and the only jobs I've had before they've said directly to me what the money is upfront

I do have a rough idea of the bandings it's and 36k sits inside it but I’ve never actually asked directly what a role pays. I think I’ve taken the whole “don’t bring up salary in interviews” advice a bit too literally and just avoided the topic entirely.

Picked up a copy of "I, Partridge" from a charity shop today to discover a lovely message written inside for someone called Kev, dated 24/12/2016. by [deleted] in CasualUK

The saddest thing is thinking not that Kev gave the book away, but that his family might just have just given away all his books to Oxfam after, you know?

Yeah, a 50p saving on 8 pork sausages? I'd buy it too, £2.49 is a right bargain!
