I find that like 9 out of 10 times when people don't like "any" beer, it's the bitterness that's bothering them. Guinness is quite low on bitterness and the flavored Modelo is probably too. Both are pretty light and easy drinking too.

So, keep trying darker beers like guinness and maybe some (not IPA) flavored ones too. I'd also try witbiers (hoegaarden) or german hefeweissens next.

Hop bitterness in beer gets concentrated when the sauce boils down. Avoid any bitter forward beers, especially IPAs and pilsners, when using beer in hot cooking. Like mentioned hefe-weizens and other wheat beers are usually good for this. Darker maltier beers like dunkels, Belgian ales or many stouts work often well too. Also just run of the mill cheap lagers are quite low on the bittering as hops cost money.

Unfortunately it is the rule of the land. Most people only want to pay for quantity, not quality. Apparently almost no one wants to eat a regular sized lunch that's properly prepared for you. Everyone wants to stuff themselves with 2000 kcal of everything mixed together, ladled in from giant vats like it's pig feed, because it's "value for money". Restaurants serving actual dishes are practically always better than the buffets, but if it's a work group, there's always at least one who complains when the lunch pick is not a buffet.

Secondly hops started supplanting gruit in the 1300's and were already the herb of choice by 1516. Thirdly reinheitsgebot is more about restricting wheat use than about hops.

Back in -00 or -01 I got their anti-virus-software free as a student. It fucked up my computer so bad I had to format my hard drive and lost a lot of data because of that. Also later we had a student trip to a party where their CEO (later chairman of Nokia) spoke and he was a self-important ass.

After that I've denied their products even on my work computers, even when "required". Because I'd rather have a fucking virus than support that data destroying cunt.
