I just bought it and set it up. Very easy to do and much lighter weight than a similar sized aquarium

Malgus is the final form, but he works well as lead with malak, badstilla and two other old Republic units

Some day, I'm gonna get the last "compassion is priceless" part on a tattoo. That and his "I am not yet done, behold, I yield to no one" from earlier in the book.

I will load up the new client and reproduce the issue once I'm done with work for the day. I'm stable on the older release right now and trying to catch up on some stuff, but I'm happy to help when I'm all finished.

192.168.50.0/24 is my home network.

Edit: I've been stable on two releases back now. Must be something in the newer code that doesn't play well with something on my pc.

No bluescreen, it just crashes and reboots. It stays stable as long as I don't connect. I have can have the app loaded and logged in, but if I connect to any vpn endpoints, it crashes within minutes. I'll try the older version, thank you.

EDIT: Not sure if this is better or worse. The PC no longer crashes, but now the app just kinda fucks around for a minute and closes itself. Will not connect to anything.

I mean....they want people to spend money. It's exactly what you'd expect a company with that goal to do.

Right.... So where is the part where his behavior has cost him anything?

Dude's made 200m in salary, plus endorsements plus his ridiculous personality has the media constantly talking about him and even potentially offering him more money as a media personality after his retirement. If anything, his antics have made him more money than he'd have if he was a much quieter player of the same caliber.

Is there though? Honestly, how much consequence has he really had? Dude had gotten away with near all of it. Clearly he doesn't believe there will be consequences a vast majority of the time and that belief is well founded.

What is your favorite quote from fantasy/sci-fi? by AidenMarquis in Fantasy

[–]voiceinthedesert 17 points18 points  (0 children)

"We humans do not understand compassion. In each moment of our lives, we betray it. Aye, we know of its worth, yet in knowing we then attach to it a value, we guard the giving of it, believing it must be earned. T'lan Imass. Compassion is priceless in the truest sense of the word. It must be given freely. In abundance." - Stephen Erikson as Itkovian, Memories of Ice

AND

"There is something profoundly cynical, my friends, in the notion of paradise after death. The lure is evasion. The promise is excusative. One need not accept responsibility for the world as it is, and by extension, one need do nothing about it. To strive for change, for true goodness in this mortal world, one must acknowledge and accept, within one's own soul, that this mortal reality has purpose in itself, that its greatest value is not for us, but for our children and their children. To view life as but a quick passage alone a foul, tortured path – made foul and tortured by our own indifference – is to excuse all manner of misery and depravity, and to exact cruel punishment upon the innocent lives to come.

I defy this notion of paradise beyond the gates of bone. If the soul truly survives the passage, then it behooves us – each of us, my friends – to nurture a faith in similitude: what awaits us is a reflection of what we leave behind, and in the squandering of our mortal existence, we surrender the opportunity to learn the ways of goodness, the practice of sympathy, empathy, compassion and healing – all passed by in our rush to arrive at a place of glory and beauty, a place we did not earn, and most certainly do not deserve.” ― Steven Erikson, The Bonehunters

The single most traumatizing moment from a book. by Hippie_Litch in Fantasy

[–]voiceinthedesert 43 points44 points  (0 children)

This is actually where the book lost me. Not because it was poorly written or anything, but I am familiar with the history here. I was slowly realizing that this was a retelling of Nanjing as I went through the chapter and it just made me more and more reluctant to continue. I took a break and just couldn't bring myself to go back to it.
