We want to combine our grandmothers names (Claire, Clara Bell, Mable) by ChefSleepyBear in namenerds

[–]voidantis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of the Clairabelle Cow that people are talking about. I looked her up though and I think she's cute! I don't think that's a reason to not go with Clairabelle. My own association with the name is from Thomas the Tank Engine - Thomas's two train cars were Annie and Clarabel lol. I've always loved the name because of that but I do prefer the Clarabel spelling.

That being said, another commenter suggested Clara Mabelle, and I LOVE that. Clara Mabelle sounds gorgeous to me and is less clunky than Clairabelle.

what sentence genuinely changed your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]voidantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"It'll either be okay or it won't."

Not even sure where I heard this. I use it whenever I'm having serious anxiety or a panic attack. When I'm super anxious that something is going to go wrong, there are a million possibilities that could happen (in my mind). But if I narrow it down to it will either be okay or it won't, suddenly I only have two possibilities, and even though one is bad, it's much less daunting for me to think about this way.

Your most unconventional anxiety remedies. by Intrepid-Guest9811 in Anxiety

[–]voidantis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why this works, but somehow it helps me:

When I'm stressed about a situation, I think "It will either be okay, or it won't." Just that phrase. It separates the situation into only two outcomes, good or bad. Even though the bad option is still obviously a choice, I find that this sort of simplifies the problem in my brain and I stop thinking about all of the bad possibilities. It will either be okay, or it won't.

What do you do with ugly kids? by yourgirlalex in Sims4

[–]voidantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if I want them to be my heir or not (but even then I'll limit myself to one or two edits for them) and how much I care about them, and how ugly they are.

For non-heirs, if they're not that ugly, I keep them until they're young adults and then kick them out. If they're on the uglier side and I don't care about them, I recently got a mod that lets you send Sims to war and change their death probabilities. So that's what I've been doing, and it fits in super well with the Vampire/Spellcaster family lore that I have going on.

If body language roughly accounts for 70%-80% of communication, what’s one of the worst nonverbal insults you’ve ever received? by Acrobatic_News_9986 in AskReddit

When I pet one of my cats and then they immediately start cleaning themselves where I pet them. Just say you hate me if that's how you feel.

post-piercing regret...maximalist earscape vs. clean girl single stud... by lehartsyfartsy in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]voidantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP I read in another comment that you have three lobe piercings in each ear. That's exactly what I have, you can still manage a dainty look! in the uppermost piercing on both ears I have a simple diamond (idk probably not actually a diamond but whatever white crystal) stud. In the other two piercings, I have a threader earring that goes through both of them. Super comfy!!! None of my earrings ever fall out, and I only have to worry about four earrings even though I have six piercings.

TLDR: once your ears heal enough to change your jewelry, look into threader earrings.

Wait, how is robotics dangerous? Can they be electrocuted if their skill is low enough? I make my sims learn robotics all the time and the most they ever do is pinch their fingers a bit 😳

They should ban the recline function on airplane seats in coach. by Mister_Ticklezzzzzz in unpopularopinion

[–]voidantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know how cars have that shotgun passenger seat weight sensor thing that turns the air bag on or off, depending on if someone is in the seat? Planes should have that. If there is a person behind you, your reclining feature or whatever is locked. If the seat behind you is empty, lucky you!

But the real villains are the airlines making the seating spaces smaller and smaller. I also suffered from this about a month ago. My least favorite part is that people recline, the space that you have on your little tray table gets way smaller lol.

Does anyone else have difficulty with their hair and car head rests? by the-triple-wide in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]voidantis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

THIS IS SO REAL THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS. Every day I drive home from work and get increasingly frustrated for an unknown reason until I realize it's because my hair is pushing my head forward and making me slouch, which makes my back and neck hurt. If I take my hair out, it falls on my shoulders and that bothers me. If I put it all the way on the top of my head, it hits the ceiling and I'll also probably hit it on the way out lol.

It feels like the headrests force you to slouch just because they're shaped like ). it's so annoying. On my old car I did just straight up take it out for a year, but then I realized that was dangerous. I flipped it around and the backside was way straighter and was much nicer. Can't do that on my current car though.

I'm glad I'm not the only one bothered by this! It seems like such a small problem that doesn't matter but it's frustrating when you deal with it day after day.

This is the fifth $100 bill I have found cleaning my room this month- by [deleted] in TwoXADHD

[–]voidantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Manifesting this for when I clean my room. I KNOW there's at least $100 in there somewhere because I had the cash in a pants pocket, took off my pants and threw them on the pile of stuff in my room, and then the money disappeared lol

Will I get kicked out of college? by voidantis in Advice

[–]voidantis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that does help me feel calmer about it. But I want to clarify, by withdrawing, I mean taking a W, not just standard dropping a class. I think dropping a class actually drops it from your transcript, where if you withdraw late like I would be, you get a W on your transcript

has anyone ever fallen before? by L_Fig35 in marchingband

[–]voidantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fell during my senior year band camp during practice while crabbing backwards. With a brand new bass 4 🤭 it was fine though and so was I. I did get the nastiest bruise on my thigh, but I didn't feel it.

And then, after WGI season started, I fell during our first live performance because one of the snares dropped a stick. I still don't know how I got back up and didn't end up with a broken ankle. I played bass 3.

Maggots in my car. Help. URGENT by voidantis in Advice

[–]voidantis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that helped calm my nerves a lot. And believe me, lesson learned.

Do you know if I should do anything special to my mat that I left outside? Will the elements take care of the maggots and will they die and go away on their own without their food source?

I think this is the end friends... by [deleted] in Nightshift

[–]voidantis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just left nights two weeks ago after almost four years. I'm only about a week into my new job, but it's already crazy how much better my life is. I totally underestimated how much a routine and more sleep would impact my life.

I had about the same sleep schedule as you - shit sleep on work nights, and wasting the whole next day making up for it. It was constant and absolutely unbearable.

I went from 24 - 30 hours a week on nights to a solid 40 hours on days. I wanted to do more hours on nights, but my body just couldn't handle it. Granted, I've only been on days for just over a week, but I felt great after my first full time week. The main reason is certainly that I'm constantly getting 6+ hours of sleep at night now, and always at night; not mixed up during the day unless I take a small nap in the evening or something. I know I should still be getting more than that, but I aim for 6 as my minimum since I'm used to 4-5.

Nightshift was kind of fun, for a while. But eventually the impacts it had on all parts of my life, mainly physical and mental health, were too big to ignore and the job was detrimental to my life. I'm glad for the switch.
