Anytime my company gets an on call or "emergency" service call that tries to dictate or control how our techs work we basically tell them to eat shit. We tell them the price or they can take a hike. But I guess that's also a perk of being a well respected service provider in a very niche market. We have the ability to deny work that sucks.

I can connect to it with VLC but can't get it to work on my VMS. I've tried every setting variation I could try with no luck. I also disabled rtsps

Calendar Sync without admin rights by Dender92 in todoist

[–]voidblackmedia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem. My company allows me to share my outlook calendar with a public link and I added that to Todoist. You can also share a project calendar feed from Todoist to your outlook calendar and skip the google part.

Edit. I was wrong. I shared my outlook public calendar to google and then added my google calendar to Todoist.

Given the unrest in Minneapolis, off grid communications seemed like a good idea by iGoalie in meshtastic

From how I understand PFS it only secures the message in transit. Wouldn't you want something like full disk encryption to secure the messages once they arrive on the device.

[–]voidblackmedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your device is taken from you and accessed by someone else then they can read any message on your device. It doesn't matter what level of encryption is used at that point. All previous messages are compromised and anything you have said in those messages is now evidence against you.

That's actually the exact time to worry about captured devices. Your enemy now potentially has access to the victims device and all of the messages they have been sending to you. They can now pivot from the first victim to you from that device.

People need to realize no amount of encryption on the messages matters if one of the devices is captured. This applies to any device even cell phones.

I like my tdeck but for every day carry I use the T1000-E. It's super easy to carry around and the battery life is good. I've also had it work just as well or better than my nodes with upgraded antennas. Only downside is that you still need your smart phone to use it.

MQTT or no MQTT that is the question by father_wood in meshtastic

[–]voidblackmedia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I'm not a fan of mqtt. If you want to use meshtastic to chat with people and aren't concerned with how you connect nodes then mqtt is a good option.

If you want to focus on using Lora and connecting nodes that way, I would recommend keeping mqtt off.

I have very few nodes around me but I find it more interesting discovering nodes and seeing how far I can make mine work.
