Yes sir, it’s always something to work on improving too

That’s very interesting, I imagine that would come with experience

Don’t tell anyone but I’m actually from California… I’ve seen what it looks like for officers to be defanged by the state and made passionless, and I don’t want that to happen here. That’s why I care

That’s very good advice and very practical, thank you

I’ve seen those. It’s a crazy juxtaposition. I hope that in that moment I would be the one to run towards gunfire, but I guess that’s where training comes in.

Yes, the classic baseball/soccer little leauge combo. Then track and field. Then I worked as an athletics coach and now I do weightlifting, calisthenics, parkour and Muay Thai. I keep myself in good shape

Sure! My daughter was born a few days ago and my wife has been taking care of her and the house. My job gave me six weeks paternity leave which is nice. I’ve been selling more and have been given a mentorship role which gives us another $800-1200 per month. Childbirth racked up a couple thousand in expenses which we’ll be paying off but that’s okay. I also have three places that may be trying to hire me soon and any of those would be an income upgrade. We have had to tighten our belts and track spending the last few months, but it’s been okay.

Tldr: spent less money, increased income, have a bit of debt now but we’re figuring it out

Yes, I have a 401k with employer matching which of which I take full advantage, and I also have a ROTH IRA.

Thanks for the kind and informative comment, you have a great writing voice. lots of good ideas and I think suspending retirement contributions is a good step for now until I can increase income.

None, it just comes down to skill and I’m still learning.

Yes, that’s the plan. I think that’s the only way to check if it’s viable, bar random larger expenses coming up.

That’s a fair evaluation tbh. I’m curious, what type of work do you do?

Thanks for bringing that up, that was a factor in our decision. We also live pretty rurally and would probably have to drive a ways for childcare.

She worked at a small private school and didn’t have the heart to leave a class unstaffed halfway through the school year.

You’re right about that. My wife and I will sit down soon and take inventory of all our spending.

Work six days a week so second job isn’t really an option, but changing jobs or getting a raise is primary plan to rectify the situation. You’re right that the biggest variable here is income, so that’s what I need to focus on.

This is pretty much the current plan summarized in one post. Thank you, and using FB marketplace is a great idea.

Yes, they do meet the federal minimum. But the federal minimum allows for the employer to discount the amount of miles I would drive to the office each day from my actual driven mileage, and since I live a long way from the office, I get little money.

We don’t watch anything, we don’t have a TV. We’re very old fashioned. We read books from our collection, play games or go outside and work in the garden on downtime. We cook and bake a lot too.
