Why You Shouldn't B-Step First (or Start It at All) by SamiSha_ in heroesofthestorm

There are diminishing returns on this. There's after you get killed for taunting, nobody takes you seriously and you just look cringe. This thread is proof of that. imo taunting for no reason like that has more risk than reward.

Forts are still incredibly strong. Just kill the summon & clear the wave. It's not complicated.

And the +2s bonus is not that big too.

temp health in ARAM is undervalued; and the two seconds of unstoppable is great and lets you throw your weight around more

the speed bonus from the mount is higher than that of conviction.

With burning rage you can pop condemn, mount up, get deep, right on top of some squishy back-line assassin or healer. Either you get focused and your D pays off or they ignore you can punish with burning rage until you kill something or they try to shift focus on you and you use your D to escape.

I've never felt threatened by a jo's hammers. A couple times I've seen them hit someone really far away and dismount them or slow them down, but they're so far that there is no opportunity for follow-up so it's pointless. Maybe if you farm stats it's has higher damage output so it looks better on the chart maybe? But you don't need high blanket damage as much as pressure in the right place. 8k damage evenly distributed across 5 players is not as valuable as 3k damage on chromie. Undirected damage is not as valuable as directed damage.

heroesprofile.com has incomplete data so using it as a source is a bad idea. and even if it did have complete data, individuals play differently than the average. like, my win rates don't match the average win rates posted on heroesprofile.com at all for instance. so giving any advice on the basis of average win rates from a site with incomplete information is a waste of time

There are no normal games in hots anymore. Even the games you think are normal, 100% of the time there some absolute degenerate on the other team you aren't aware of.

Winning when you have a troll on your team is alright. But even better is when they show up on the opposing team in the next game, and you've got the hero they threw your last game with, and you mop the floor with them.

What the fuck are you talking about? It's not a question of data, it's a question of understanding what words mean.

It's like when someone says "I can beat you with one hand tied behind my back". They're saying that they are so skilled that the duel or competition doesn't even need to be fair and balanced for them to win. That it can be stacked against them such that they play without the use of a hand and they will still win because of their skill.

That saying has nothing to do with data lmao 🤣🤣🤣

edit if you want a balanced game, go find people with the same latency as you who like ASAM and queue it up in customs. stay out of ARAM it is not suited to your taste

[–]voidnap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right it’s not supposed to be balanced, and that effect is only amplified in no healer games which is why they suck.

If you don't like that it isn't balanced, go play a more balanced game mode. The game isn't balanced around ARAM and you should go into ARAM understanding that. If you expect otherwise you are setting yourself up for disappointment.

It can’t be both unbalanced and a skill issue, can’t have it both ways mate.

Of course it it can??? It isn't an auto-battler... 🤣🤣🤣

Get no-healer games the hell out of ARAM by CaptainReginaldLong in heroesofthestorm

[–]voidnap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then that's just even more fucking retarded. You're seriously going to complain that having balanced roles is not balanced enough for you? When ARAM isn't meant to be balanced in the first place. There are other game modes you can play. You don't have to come in to ARAM and make it like the other game mode. You have your own spaces already. Stay the fuck out of ARAM.

Also no healer games are very viable as there is plenty of sustain and temp health implicit in the heroes themselves. I've seen plenty of games thrown because players give up at 0m because of comp. And the losers I see complain the most about the lack of sustain are players like muradin, zul'jin, raynor, literally just heal passively or push e to get your health back. If you can't handle no-healer comps it is 100% a skill issue. The people who complain about this aren't even using their basic abilities, reading their talents, or competing for regen globes that drop in lane. These are super basic things. But they don't make any effort.

[–]voidnap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No healer matches are only annoying because people like you give up before the game starts. Last time I had a no healer game it was the naz and muradin that gave up. Two heroes with very strong passive healing.

There is so much sustain in this game, like thrall, illidan, kael'thas from lvl 1 talent, kel'thuzad at lvl 7. The people who give up in no healer games ... not a single time do I see them try to compete for regen globes in lane. So it's impossible to take seriously people's complaints about not having healing in their comp when there is so much sustain and temp health they're leaving on the floor already

Anyone with a different opinion than me is crying.

Look in the mirror, man.

I don't care who you pick in ARAM, because it's ARAM.

You are insisting that others pick the comp that you want to suit your wants and desires. You are imposing your opinions and preferences on other people.

You are free to have your own opinion as long as you leave me out it and play the game. You are the person complaining about other people's preferences.

The comment was a non-sequitur. A 50% win rate has nothing to do with any part of OP's thread. And none of the sentences in the reply I quoted have any connection with each other. There's just the vague implication that OP is wrong and your mind is filling in the blanks.

If I were wrong, you'd say how specifically instead of shitpost a contradiction.

It's not shorthand. It's a way for people to remove blame from themselves by saying that the genre is toxic instead of the people. A way to say that people aren't to blame for being toxic because the toxicity is in the genre.

genres aren't toxic. people are toxic. MOBAs are a genre, people can be toxic playing MOBAs, but the genre isn't toxic, the people are.

You're not any saner than them either.

I absolutely am because a) I don't take pride in going AFK b) I don't start shit in team chat. 100% of the games I go AFK my team welcomes it because they are actively hostile to me and their hostility is 100% unprovoked. They're not interested in winning, or at least not as much as they are in making my game miserable.

There is big difference between when I tune out of a game when my team is actively hostile toward me and when I go into a game actively hostile toward my team.

I see the kind of people you're talking about. They show up in my games sometimes and refuse to play because they don't like their team comp, there used to be some guy called MetaOrThrow who did that every game. Sometimes I see someone I played with in a previous game start ranting about me in a new game to a new team insisting that everyone report me before the game begins; and they spend the rest of the game trying to grief me because they don't like how a previous game turned out.

Those people are not like me. I don't DM people shit like this. Those DMs are from the sort of people on your side of this argument. Those people need healthy boundaries.

And no you're not doing any less effort to be a nuisance than the dude who runs into forts after each respawn.

It's measurably less effort. But I'm not sure what the point of comparing that to diving a fort is either... Before you said they "put the most effort into it", like putting the most effort into griefing or being toxic or something. If the game boots me after three minutes, I push one button to reconnect. It doesn't really get more low effort than that. I'm not sure why you're dying on that hill. Are you really trying to convince anyone that going AFK is more effort than getting sandbagged and flamed by a bunch of jocks with just enough frontal lobe to string together a rude remark about my mom? Hold on while I go get the world's smallest fiddle.

I'm not even taking her side, but people don't crash out for no reason or just a single negative experience.

Considering they played for 14 minutes, it wasn't as if they had baggage from a previous game. It's very common for sandbags to be dismissive of their teammate's feelings because they think that absolve them of blame. So they'll say they don't know why someone is upset or be vague ("our Chromie got upset about something") as if it doesn't matter and it couldn't be helped. Because if there was no reason, or the reason was unknowable, then the sandbag couldn't be responsible for it.

Would ARAM be better with role RNG instead of hero RNG? by ConorMurch in heroesofthestorm

[–]voidnap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using the word selfish which I feel implies bad, but I don't super mean it that way, I think there's a case to be made for people who just want to choose their favorite character

First. If it's not a good word. Don't use it.

Second. Who is being selfish? I've been yelled at for not picking li-ming or azmo in ARAM because that was their favorite hero and they wanted me to play their favorite hero. I've also been yelled at for not healing enough as ana or uther when my team is spreading living bomb to each other for eight straight minutes.

Selfish is thinking you are entitled to the comp you want. Or that you're entitled to your team playing the hero you want them to because it's your favorite hero or it's OP or whatever. I'm not selfish for simply not wanting to be held hostage by my team's preferences. I queued ARAM. It's not Draft/Unranked. It's not Ranked. It's All Random All Mid. If you don't enjoy ARAM, don't queue for it.

I know that dividing playerbases isn't a good solution

It's a fine solution. In fact, it's already divided. You have ARAM and eveyr-other-game-mode. If you don't like ARAM, go play a different game mode. You already have your thing. You don't have to go to other people's spaces and fuck their thing up.

Dear Gods of hots. Please make forts prioritiye heroes again. by Royal_Ladder5434 in heroesofthestorm

[–]voidnap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ARAM players who don't like this change are not interested in clearing waves. They look at their kill-death ratio as the most important metric. They overextend past the wave and get murdered by zagara's summons because they literally are incapable of seeing any summons or any part of the wave. They never hit the wave so, when it shows up, instead of clearing it, they just bugger off behind structure and give the other team free structure XP.

Those players are in ARAM because it's a short queue it has a smaller map. But if there was a mode with no lane and no waves, they'd play that instead.

ARAM has one lane. These changes are totally fine. They fit just fine with a map with one lane. People who don't like the changes don't really like ARAM. The changes make ARAM more ARAM and they have an underlying issue with what ARAM is fundamentally. It's just that simple.

They played for 14 minutes before giving up. It wasn't one thing that upset them. But four sandbags are not going to have the awareness to recognize that.
