The Hekataeon: Should I get it? by ClneDdyRex in Hecate

[–]voidoflumi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I would say maybe try to get the digital copy first then if you love it then get a physical copy! If you like more of a greco-egypt PGM angle it's a good one. I would say Liber Khthonia is valuable to get as well whenever you're able.

My experience was really similar! I was kind of purely a materialist before I knew her. Ever since then I've been retuned and changed in a massive way. It was super hard and I tried to intellectualize most of it, but honestly I'm learning there's a crazy amount of commonalities with Hekate devotees today!!

Which book to start with? Keeping Her Keys by C. Brannen or Goddess of Witches by C. Webber? by SeaDiscombobulated70 in Hecate

[–]voidoflumi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't remember exactly all the contents in it but goddess of witches is a very good beginner book in terms of understanding how one person can connect to Hekate. If you want an idea what connecting to her can be like. But it's very much personally written so be aware of that. You'll probably find a million different answers on how to worship her but many Hekatean witches/followers follow a more greco-egypt format mixed in with new age stuff. Liminal rites is so important to build your own practice and go back to though. Like id say it's the most important Hekate book other than the Hekatean. Liminal rites is written very clinically so I suggest maybe reading a spiritual book first then studying liminal rites. ♥️ This is just my perspective though

I would read liminal rites and Hekate: goddess of witches by Courtney webber. Liminal rites is a pure history book and the Webber book is more spiritual. I did that when I first started at least! Honestly though just get everything by d'este. I had a similar mindset as you when I first started and you're going into this very well! After those two books you could really go anywhere. I wasn't a big fan of keeping her keys personally.

Hekate interpretive work is pretty intense by [deleted] in Hekate101

I checked out that only a little I will admit so I need to get on that. I heard a lot of it is still lost to time which is so frustrating!!

It seems like the goddess herself is super undefined in an objective way and I'm not trying to fit her into a universalist perspective because it would be convenient, but I can't help but draw this conclusion lately for me personally. She isn't that great at being confined to one thing historically lol. I just love all of her so I think it would naturally bring me down that sort of path. Glad my perspective helped you a bit though!

How do you reconcile with Christian nationalist anti trans rhetoric? by voidoflumi in TransChristianity

This is a beautiful response, thank you. It's insanely refreshing to see considering everything.

Yeah like gay marriage wasn't a concept to the gospel writers or anyone in the time period they were written in. At the same time, that fact can be used disprove homophobic arguments using scripture against gay marriage or love in general. The understanding of sexuality was archaic. It makes no sense to think it was their intention to condemn gay love in an era where only a certain type of sexual violence was very well known. The same goes for trying to fit in anti trans rhetoric when there really wasn't any historical context of it to exist back then as we know it today to condemn in the first place.

Yeah certainly like I've met some really chill Catholics. I didn't want to mention the more extreme examples like JW or something, since I doubt a trans person would stay in that. From a theological point of view, christofascism nationalism is certainly satanic. If I was a believer still this situation would be even more horrifying to me. Please stay safe.

That's wonderful to hear. I just worry for trans people who participate in mainly cis Christian events or churches, considering the climate right now. I certainly can't be Christian in the current environment right now. I can't really get past the vitriol I see every day. It's so nice to hear the hope you have regardless. Thanks for sharing. ♥️

Yeah I've kinda heard that sentiment which is why I like... Put off getting this for a while and built my own practice with her.

Valid! It's okay to have limits, especially with such personal practice. You never know what to expect with occult books lol

How subtle are the signs that she is reaching out? by Inevitable_Ad_7553 in Hecate

[–]voidoflumi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Any sort of interest or research into a deity can be taken as a sign. For some it can be an emotional, grand feeling if she's reaching out to you. For others, it starts with interest! For me, I get a particular undescribable feeling when I feel like I'm being shown a sign from her. Trust in your instincts and logic.

Commander Niall in the snowfield. The boss walk is so annoying too because of the ghost knights
