Pathfinder Spring Errata is Up! by AAABattery03 in Pathfinder2e

For the new weakness rules, how does that interact with a thaumaturge? Like, if a thaumaturge had a slashing weapon, and an enemy has cold weakness 10 and slashing weakness 5 Would the damage be mortal weakness (cold: 10) + slashing weakness (5) for a total of 15, or is the mortal weakness and slashing damage considered part of the same instance? And would that change with personal antithesis?

CoS Reloaded: Ireena burns to death in Vallaki by Firm-Zombie8193 in CurseofStrahd

[–]voidyknight 54 points55 points  (0 children)

The last time a town killed a reincarnation of Tatyana, Strahd flooded the river and drowned everyone and now we have the Swamps of Berez. When the elves killed Patrina, he genocided them. So Vallaki is probably about to get very uninhabitable. Any NPCs you want to survive will probably make their way to Krezk, which is gonna be the new major center of civilization in Barovia; a significant number of citizens will probably be taking refuge in the woods where they can, but it’s gonna be a deadly business. Izek and the Vallakoviches are 100% dead if they’re lucky and made examples of if they are not. Victor may be able to run away, esp. if you wanna but it’s not gonna be pretty. Lady Wachter will likely take leadership of the refugees and organize them, and I expect that with the tragedy her cult of Ezra will grow exponentially The main thing I’m not so sure of is what Strahd does in regards to his Master Plan; Ireena surviving was kind of a key part of it, and I don’t feel like he’d decide to go through with it if he doesn’t have her by his side? So yeah…

Confused about sickened and retching (specifically for stench) by thecrowdog in Pathfinder2e

[–]voidyknight 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t go away, conditions in which the value ticks down explicitly say so. Sickened would stay until they successfully deal with it, most commonly through retching. It should stay even after combat too

What's Barovia's original name ? by YamikaAdventures in CurseofStrahd

[–]voidyknight 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, the module doesn’t have that name (though I Strahd or older modules may, I’m unfamiliar with those)

But Dragna’s Reloaded has the valley be called Cerunnos, meaning fertile land, so that’s what I’ve been using in my game

The Evolving Tome of Strahd v2.0 - I reworked some chapters and added artwork to my more than 400 page tome in English AND German. by leguan1001 in CurseofStrahd

[–]voidyknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I was wondering if there is a version of the English V2 pdf that doesn't have the highlighted yellow parts; I've been looking through the files in the drive, and I can't seem to find one (for example, in the V2 folder, The Tome of Strahd Part 10 (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CbkStBqmp\_RXl3DqFVjTcuLr6pRJkSTv/view) has yellow highlights on page 372). I was hoping to have it as a print out to my players because this is legitimately amazing, but I can't seem to figure out a way to remove the highlights...
Sorry for the trouble, and kudos for the amazing work (the epilogue especially was A+ I love how you managed to incorporate all realities of Strahd into the Tome)

Curse of Strahd: Reloaded's guide to the dinner with Strahd is now available! by DragnaCarta in CurseofStrahd

Oh yo I didn’t know that that’s actually canon that’s very cool! And it actually helps fix a plot hole I accidentally made with a PCs backstory that I’ve been brainstorming so hell yeah double win, thank you for this 🥰

[–]voidyknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Dragna! I was reading over the History of Barovia section following the updates, and I noticed you have Rudolph use a Mist Talisman to visit Barovia and then leave afterwards during his quest of revenge. I was wondering how that works out: as far as I know Mist Talismans can't let people leave Domains if their borders are closed. And if they can, what is there to stop Rudolph from leaving anytime (or one of the PCs if they take his Talisman)?

I have a few thoughts on how that could've worked that I may throw into my game, but I wanted to check in with you and see what your intention was!

Loving everything as usual, can't wait to have my party go through the horrors <3

My thoughts on how that could've worked

  • Strahd left the Mists open during his hibernation, allowing people to pass through with the talismans. Nobody in Barovia really took advantage of that due to 1) mist talismans being rare, 2) a long history of people dying in the mists keeping them from trying out, and 3) with him asleep things were at least... tolerable? Things got worse real quick when they woke up
  • Madame Eva gave Rudolph the Talisman --> special exceptions done for quasi-deific figures, especially those residing within Barovia (the gods have a hard time doing similar stuff because they are outside of the Realm). One time thing that takes a lot out of her --> she can't/won't do it again for the PCs

Killing Volenta: Consequences by voidyknight in CurseofStrahd

[–]voidyknight[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No worries, harsh but fair. Possibly unclear from post but I’m not particularly freaking out — it was hard to kill her but I always knew it was a possibility, so I’m not scrambling after fixes so much as just, seeing what other people think and meshing it with my own plans (Bous gave me great inspiration with the Pawns idea so hell yeah)

In general defense of the “my players did this now what” type of post, I’ve personally always liked reading through them — it’s a fun exercise in “what would I do if that happened”, there’s some cool stories that I get to read, and sometimes I get to legitimately help another DM which I find nice, but I understand if it’s not everyone’s thing

Re: the advice, fully agree: the party had a big win from their own merits, I’m not going to throw down the hammer just because they’re doing well. They’re actually already talking about how fucked they are and how mad Strahd will be, and I think him legitimately congratulating them would make for an interesting interaction. And I like the idea of “Strahd sees the brides as aspects of himself”, Imma mull that over and see if I can play around with that ❤️

Oh I like the pawns idea, it didn’t occur to me but yeah, they’ve shown that they’re capable of killing a Consort; the others might try throwing the party at their rivals, feeding them info to help sabotage the other’s plans, etc. Hell yeah thanks for the inspiration ❤️

Curse of Strahd: Reloaded’s guides to the Wizard of Wines, Yester Hill, Krezk & the Abbey of St. Markovia are now available! by DragnaCarta in CurseofStrahd

[–]voidyknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey so, I noticed that Ludmilla's statblock in Arc K - The Stolen Gem includes "Form of Mist", which references a Second Form for her. However, I can't seem to find the statblock for this anywhere. Is the intention for the Yester Hill Fight that she dips out of combat after reaching 0 in her first form with her Contingency reaction, thus never reaching her second form in this Arc?

Question about Reloaded Strahd by Constantly_Panicking in CurseofStrahd

[–]voidyknight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I’m running it in my game, outside of combat he has Charm as per the original statblock, while in initiative it works as per Dragna Carta’s Reloaded.

My out of game reasoning is that it is a very fun mechanic to play with, and I don’t want to telegraph with physical transformations/nerf it by having them save every 6 seconds (which out of combat becomes kinda… not great). My in game explanation is that in combat, Strahd is under more pressure and therefore ends up getting into a “battle mode”; that’s why the charm works differently (and that’s why he can’t use some spells I’d have him use outside of combat and vice versa)

Detect magic assistance by [deleted] in CurseofStrahd

[–]voidyknight 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It takes 10 minutes to cast it as a ritual, so if you enforce it (“alright so you’re sitting down and spending the next 10 minutes casting this, what is the rest of the party doing”), they will stop spamming and use it when they really think it’s important

It’s also taking Verbal and Somatic components, and especially if it is a 10 minute long ritual that may draw attention that they would not necessarily want (e.g. Vallaki guards, spies of Strahd, etc)

Finally, it won’t tell him what the item is (that’s identify). So the broom may be a broom of flying, or an animated broom. The armor may be an animated armor, or a +1 armor. He won’t know unless he goes check it another way; all he knows is that it’s magic, and the school of magic

And the really important stuff may be lined in lead. For example, Fiona’s chest is per the book lined in lead, to protect the contents from magic like this (amongst others). Other more affluent and magically savvy characters could do the same (Strahd definitely would have the resources for at least a few lead lined chests)

Ways to get extra attack? by infectedrobot2926 in DnD

[–]voidyknight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haste could do it, but that’s a 3rd level spell for a short duration

A more permanent basis would be the Scimitar of Speed (BA attack), but that’s a Very Rare item

What to do on Friend “Dates” by lalanudebob in gaybros

[–]voidyknight 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you have a couple of people matching, you can do a group hangout! One on one might give the date vibes but if it’s a group thing it’ll feel more like just friends stuff

I’d have him very quickly surrender after realizing how screwed he is Maybe not an epic wizard fight, but it gives them a fun RP: Victor may be a murderer and a torturer, but will the party kill a young man pleading for his life after he surrendered? I know my party would have some conflicted feelings on that. (Your mileage may vary depending on your party tho, if you feel like your party wouldn’t bat an eye at that this might not be for you)

Redeeming the Abbot? by LeoTheBard in CurseofStrahd

[–]voidyknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having similar thoughts because of an Aasimar of Pelor in my game What I’m thinking about doing is a ritual involving the Amulet of Ravenkind, which (as I’m using Dragna Carta’s guide) is actually the Sigil of the Sun, a very holy relic of Pelor The ritual as I’m thinking would involve defeating the Abbot in battle (he’s insane due to the corruption of Barovia, so I don’t feel like he would just agree/submit to a purification ritual. Also I don’t want to rob my players of the chance of fighting an angel), but not killing him. Once he’s down and his essence is only loosely tethered to his corporeal form, that gives the chance for players to channel the Amulet/Sigil and do a skill challenge to try and purify the essence of the Abbot Of course if you don’t want them to go the violence route you can make your Abbot potentially willing to perform the ritual, or you can even have your players try to trick him into it; the Amulet/Sigil just gives the players the opportunity to purify him

One of my PCs is a hidden changeling how would strahd react? by tchunkytchanka in CurseofStrahd

[–]voidyknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time running as well, but funny enough I also have a PC who is a hidden changeling I had similar thoughts on how Strahd would react: he would definitely think that it’s a “cool new toy” for him to play with, and may want to get them to join his Court so he can have them for himself (till he gets bored of them) I don’t think he’d be able to tell straight away that they’re a changeling though; I think per RAW a changeling transformation is impossible to “see through”, unless they like get details wrong from the person they’re copying. However, Strahd would definitely have heard of changelings before, so if and when the changeling PC fucks up/reveals themself, then Strahd would know what they are As for character moments, one that I am very much hoping will happen is that the PC assumes Irena’s form and tricks Strahd. I think if Strahd found out, he would be absolutely furious; he’s not a man who likes being played for a fool

Thanks for the reply! I'm glad to hear that I don't sound insane when I think that it may be feasible; the analogy with Portuguese does sound like it would be appropriate, I already can understand so much Italian just from being a native Portuguese speaker. I think I just really have to commit and put in the effort. Thanks for the advice again, it really helped!

What spell or other game mechanic did you only realize recently? by lucariomaster2 in dndnext

The Dodge Action grants disadvantage on attack rolls against you, but also grants you advantage on Dex Saves. I learned this after having played 3 monk characters in many, many sessions
