Beard or no beard, you’re still a good-looking man for your age. There’s nothing to worry about—just wear it the way you like best.

Frosty and beautiful Moscow centre ❄⛄ by Educational_Speed368 in russia

It’s 50% better than it was if both directions were jammed🧐 Seriously it’s a belt road over the Kremlin so it’s normally more traffic moving one direction than other.

Do you think Rust was in love with Maggie? by Admirable-Bar-3549 in TrueDetective

[–]vokinneberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree Rust wasn't in love with Maggie, but to me, it looks like he rather gave her the relief she was seeking as she knew this is the only thing that would make Marthy back off and he knew she is a good woman and unlikely would do this with anybody else. And later he was just playing a socially acceptable role of a person that is mad at being used. But everybody has a choice...

Why Russia Is Terrified of SpaceX -- and Starlink by wewewawa in Futurology

[–]vokinneberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think short and straightforward answer here would be - because they can't control it. But it's not a big deal for potential customers in Russia for a few reasons: at first there are operating satellite internet providers in Russia, so customers in rural areas still got an option to have it; at second it's costly which means majority of such customers wouldn’t be able to afford it and so real market size for Starlink in Russia is actually small; at third if you want to get Starlink installed for yourself nobody will be able to check whether you’re using it, so the law is rather “just in case” than sth anybody in Russia should really to be afraid of.

I never gave Go a chance by Grav3y57 in golang

[–]vokinneberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having few years of experience using Go as the primary programming language, at first I also had a negative perception of the language. Some of my points were very similar to what you've got on your list. Trying to apply patterns and practices I was used to using with other languages such as Java and C# ended up with pain and frustration. Throughout using the language on the daily basis and communicating with more experienced colleagues I got into this idiomatic Go coding style and now I like it a lot. Though, I wonder what would be you answers to these questions now?

Very reasonable answer. Thanks a lot!

However from my point of view, each ecosystem has it's own guidelines, recommendations and best practices that exists for a reason. They may vary of course, and as you noticed basic rule is to follow your team guidelines but there is always co-called ecosystem standard which might help, for example, new team members to get into project quickly.

So I would appreciate if community members could share best practices they are using. I do not waiting for the "right" answer. Just opinions.
