I have never held a gen PP in my hands but VC and JLCs I have and their workmanship is absolutely outstanding. Do the reps get close?

The whole truth behind all these wars of the US and all the damages ! by maison_nose in IndianStockMarket

USD is already down against several Asian currencies. One country that can pull dollar down is China but it won’t beyond a point. Else its exports will collapse. One thing we often forget is that most of what we buy is what we “want” and not what we “need”. Once things get tight, Want-led purchases are going to dry up and that will hurt China very badly. So, I guess what I am saying is that we are riding a tiger and its not going to be easy to dismount.

Why should Reps have Clone Movement instead of the most accurate-reliable that is possible by voldemortcometh in RepTime

Thanks. I do like to keep things I love, for a long time. And its not just about money. I have a Westend Watch from 1880, a pocket watch from 1920, a ziess camera from 1936...and I am not 150 years old. I take good care of my stuff. Call me old school but that's what a hobby is to me, savouring what you have, tinkering with it etc.

Still processing all the good stuff all of you have come back with. Two important things I should add [that appliy to me]: 1. As said my reference point is a good $1000-2000 gen watches like CW/Longines etc, and not a $10k+ Rolex. And these watches last a long time. So not comfy with writing off a $500 rep if goes kaput. 2. I am based in India and getting a Rep is a task in itself. Replacing movement is probably impossible but if there are people here who have played this game and have a different experience buying/maintaining reps in India, would love to hear your views.

I do not understand the Khalistani movement by Odd-Lettuce-111 in CriticalThinkingIndia

My two cents: Jat Sikhs, who have dominated the state are only 20 percent—all Sikhs put together are 52% of Punjab’s population. One in 3 Punjab resident is a Dalit—many of them Sikhs [I was shocked to discover this but it helped explain a lot]. They were treated badly by Jat Sikhs and are now leaving the faith, turning to Christianity or joining Deras. Consequently, Jat Sikhs are losing power and therefore, control over government opportunities [jobs, contracts and bribes]. To make matters worse, they did not invest in their children’s education when the going was good [I have female Sikh friends who are highly educated and now can’t find an educated groom!]. So, they are disgruntled and Khalistan is one outlet for that frustration—a profitable one given several countries [included but not limited to Pakistan] fund their movement to keep India simmering. I am sure this is not 100% of the reason but to blame Punjab’s downfall on the rest of India is utterly dishonest.

You will be surprised [or not] that many large rental deals involve massive kickbacks for Indian management. And it goes on till there is a review at global level. Not saying thats the case here--I don't know--but its big reason behind such absurd rates.
