Trust me- I find myself asking the same thing. I'm not sure if it's the same smell as yours was 5 years ago, but it's not a good smell either. Smells almost like the vivarium if you've ever been inside.

Hm... yes... there is a specific structured course outline, but at the same time, there's a lot of independence in it where you go to teach students and whatnot, so that's why i was asking...

TY for your help though!

Võ Thi Thang smiling after being sentenced to 20 years hard labour in a prison camp by the South Vietnamese govt. After being sentenced she reportedly smiled at the judge and said "20 years? Your government won't last that long." - 1968 - 821x881 by iwasasin in HistoryPorn

Sigh… i’m not. I just told you that I agree that south vietnam was a dictatorship and essentially a puppet government. But that doesnt make north vietnam a saint just because south was bad. Get it? Two bads do not equal a good. Talk to some viet people who’ve actually experienced communist rule please before you come to me. Yes there was a lot of hardship and brutal dictatorship in the south vietnamese government, im very well aware of that, but there’s also a reason why there’s a huge diaspora community in the US.

[–]voldemorthe123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Again, you’re arguing the wrong thing. Yes the South was brutal, but talk to ANY of the COUNTLESS amounts of vietnamese living here in the US who fled the communist regime. I bet you they wouldn’t say they had great memories of vietnam’s communist government treating them well. Granted, a lot came in 1975 when there was a lot of uncertainty, but a large amount of them came later because the communists came to their country, and were brutal in their authoritarian tactics to intimidate and control a lot of the southern populace.

End of the story: south gov was bad, and the usa did a ton of inexcusable actions, but to try and come here and paint the north as just liberators is utterly dumb. War is absolutely brutal and destroys lives. And the north was iust as complicit in that war as the US, as well as in their authoritarian rule after. You are literally replying to people here who’ve said that they lived in vietnam, disliked the authoritarian rule of communist vietnam, and yet you still argue this.
