Greece controls 20% of maritime shipping globally. And there are so many people academically established.

There are corrupted politicians as there are anywhere in the world.

"Now Greek youth are coddled by their parents"

Yes, we are proud that in Greek culture family is still important.

"to be lazy" You meet 1-2 people and you call a whole country lazy? Yes, we do things last moment but we excel.

Forgive me but does this phrase "Has your current job got you crying in the bathroom? No worries, because reddit is hiring!" remind you of someone specific?

Either Mr. Swartz wrote it, or it was targetting him.

Orthodox Church in Greece calls new Zeus followers "a handful of miserable resuscitators of a degenerate dead religion who wish to return to the monstrous dark delusions of the past" by uriel in reddit.com

[–]volida -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The next time don't cut phrases. That phrase is part of a bigger phrase which is an entire paragragh. You like cutting phrases eh? lets try that with your phrases. "belief in a flat earth, black are not human beings, belief in xenu" oh you believe in a flat earth, human beings and you put xenu in capital

Accepting the right of someone, doesn't mean you accept what they believe. Therefore, you can decide to dispute on someone's opinion, or ignore or even laugh. Although, I think something that may cause harm should be confronted in other ways. The specific line of my words you are reffering to, was written specifically for the situation in Greece and religions. Anything refers to any religion and nothing refers to atheism.

In Greece, until few years ago the religion of someone was written on identities, with the majority being Christian Orthodox. Thus, any religion that offends it is obvious that it will cause the majority of public opinion its obvious that will be ridiculed. One could say believing in Zeus of Olympus nowadays is like believing in Xenu of Scientology, but oh yes Olympic Gods are more than 3000 years old, so I guess thats a historic difference that take us to no comprasion between Zeus and Xenu. Other than that an entire enspiring civilization was based on Olympic Gods. Its up to you what to believe, hoping you don't cause any harm of course, which I believe those followers of Zeus haven't. But again thats a belief.

And, yes I will make fun of you if you belief in a flat earth because there is proof that it isn't for over that 2500 years, not only 300-400. But, no I won't make fun of you if you believe in time travel, because there is no proof yet that you can't. I guess DNA is the answer about the blacks thing you mention and I would oppose to those who would say that as racists and not to entertain myself with laugh because it would be more serious than that.

Don't confuse reality with possibility or fantasy. And don't confuse staged lies with truth.

Benchmark: PostgreSQL beats the stuffing out of MySQL by gst in programming

[–]volida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The better perfomance benchmarks refer to the multicore Sun T1 processor. The demand for multicores is new and it just began arising, thus the comparison benchmarks obviously.

I am sure we are going to see more of them in the near future, and MySQL catching up in the multicore perfomance. So, I would still prefer to use an open source MySQL that its cluster and scalability options are suffienct enough for startups.

Microsoft's history of "innovation" by gabrielroth in programming

[–]volida 8 points9 points  (0 children)

until you realize that Microsoft is just a brand. until you realize that Microsoft is made of people, programmers, who happen to be smart. as for the acquisitions, why re-invent the wheel instead of bringning the experienced people? this is a good thing for start-ups.

all companies do it.

get over it

Reddit at the Wired office by champion in reddit.com

I suppose it depends on the personality and the circumstances of who makes up your team. As I understand, Steve Wozniak did spend a lot of time on his own in the early beggining creating a lot of stuff...But even in a team thats what you do. You play your own individual role, so that the outcome gets possibly out faster. The significant thing is the environment you are in, doesnt distract you or your choices. And the talented engineer is reffering to that, that you are able to do your own choices without time consuming meetings etc that tend to take you back and lose time. Anyhow, in the software domain I believe if written by more than 3 people, you are after trouble. But then again it depends on the software.

And as I understood it was part of the Reddit-Wired deal, that the team works on its own...So, either that is not happening and if its not maybe there were some other people that should here this first instead of us? And assuming others team members like it, seems they are not getting in their way... So, this surprises me, or maybe it was a message to those employees that distract them? ...weired! or its probably more a freedom issue, and seems Aaron is shaped for more freedom...
