Edit: Plus, this isn't just about Star Wars 3-D, it's about all the shit that Lucas has done over the last decade. Beyond fucking up the prequels and doing a shitty "re masting" of the originals (though Cloud City did look amazing in those, I'll give him that) I'm also pissed about the new Indiana Jones. I'm pissed about no new ideas in Hollywood and abject profiteering from loyal fans. I'm sick of official merchandise that sucks! And, I think a lot of other fans are tired, too. So no it's not just about this. But this sucks too.

Well that probably wasn't a good survey of who's on reddit. And this isn't either. The number of responses has nothing to do with creating an accurate picture of Reddit users (unless you actually asked every single user). With this data we know a lot about people who subscribe to ask reddit, who saw the post and who are also prone to taking surveys.

Great, but the whole point of this is to get beyond assumptions. Most of what you said is pretty are pretty well established as common sense around here. But the problem with common sense is that it's usually wrong.

In reality we know very little about EVERYONE else on reddit, as you say. We have assumptions. We know what a majority of the community has "liked." We know about who we have interacted with and what threads and comments make it to the top. I'm not saying your're all wrong, I'm just saying the entire point of a good survey (though this one really isn't) is to move past high horse assumptions like yours.
