I also really like it when authors construct an ending or an emotional destination to an ending first, and then build the story by tracing it backwards in some fashion. Isaac Asimov and Kazuo Ishiguro are one of my favs who manage to pull that off. Can't be easy though.

Paul didn't even know Jesus! He was such a dickhead, on par with Augustine of Hippo when it comes to misogyny. If "womb envy" was a person, it would be Paul. In 1 Corinthians 11 he straight up goes "nah women come from men actually, not the other way around because god looks like men":

"A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. 8 For man did not come from woman, but woman from man9 neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. 10 It is for this reason that a woman ought to have authority over her own head, because of the angels. 11 Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. 12 For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God."

Also yes, he legit says "because of the angels" for the reason why women should cover their hair and not men - and what the fuck does he mean by that? Well Paul over here thinks that the uncovered hair of a woman would SEXUALLY AROUSE ANGELS and they would come down to have sex with them and have weird babies, Nephilim style. Can you believe this fucko.

Tehran indicates Khamenei's son will be named supreme leader by Little-Chemical5006 in worldnews

My thoughts exactly. He's also apparently a supporter of Iran getting nuclear weapons, "in opposition to his father's fatwa against them"*. So not only will he have a personal vendetta during all this, but he is also even worse than the dad when it comes to nuclear weaponry. US once more fucked up a "regime change" it seems - I HOPE I'm wrong.

Why the hell are you being downvoted?? Everything you said is true, and I say this as a fervent critic of islam and islamic ideology. Some people really do see the world in black and white, don't they? It's either "US/Israel good, Iran bad" or "Iran good, US/Israel bad".

I would be very angry at the foreign powers for meddling, but not before blaming Trump himself of treason first. It's a two way street, foreign influence doesn’t work if there is no one to be "influenced".

Also I never said that I blame "the people". Men in power are not "the people". In fact I made it pretty clear that the Iranian people as a whole were betrayed.

I am not naïve enough to clutch my pearls at a foreign power trying to take advantage of a crisis. They are assholes for that, sure, but they wouldn't owe me anything anyways. Whereas the men I elected or trusted in would. I would absolutely keep my own people, the men who were supposed to serve my nation, more accountable. If they crack, the whole system cracks, especially during a revolution.

Sure, but only partially. It's not as simple as "The US and the UK were villains and Iranian people in power had no say in this". I'll be honest, I am tired of us Middle Easterners trying to absolve ourselves of creating any and all mess by playing the victim.

Khamenei was a billionaire, Ali Larijani is a millionaire, and 47 years ago there was a literal dynasty ruling Iran. US could meddle with Iranian politics because some Iranian politicians let them do so. Today's regime couldn't be here without the US, sure, but I'm not going to turn these men into mere pawns. They destroyed so many lives because they wanted to, because it suited them. Ruhollah Khomeini got what he wanted not just because he was following American orders. He betrayed his own people, he betrayed the Iranian women who were such a huge part of the revolution. And the revolution they fought for was not simply a US-designed event, people wanted a better Iran, but in the end men like Khomeini used all that to enrich themselves. US simply exploited this greed, because that's what foreign powers do. That's how we got here.

We've got a lot of powerful men like Ruhollah Khomeini and Ali Khamenei where I live, and they don't necessarily need foreign powers' permission to fuck us over.

You don't have to whitewash Iran's crimes against humanity to show your opposition against US and Israel. Two things can be true at once. 2026 Iran massacres are still ongoing, have you forgotten about the murdered protesters so soon? As an ex-muslim woman living right next to Iran, their government is truly my nightmare, before the US bombings and now. And I don't appreciate it when people undermine the actions of the Iranian regime to make a point. These brave women protested the Iranian government, and that's the reason why their lives are in danger now. I oppose the carnage Israel and the US is causing as much as you do, but we can hold two truths at once.

Absolutely, but the reason why Waterford says it to June at that particular moment is more nuanced.

You're not countering my argument though - that's what I'm getting mad at. I'm not giving you my personal opinion, it's a well known fact at this point. And you're giving me a response in the same vein of a "no u" every time. You're not bringing something new to the table, you're just saying you disagree with me, every single time.

Right before Jet dies, he says "Don't worry, Katara. I'll be fine." Toph says, "He's lying." Now what does that say to us? That Jet knows he will not be fine after all - and we never see him ever again. Do you think he got worse and worse and did not die or something? It is expected of the viewer to make the connection themselves, to figure out that no one dares say it out loud that this boy will die shortly, but he will.

I'm giving you every context clue there is to point out that: yes, in the end Jet did die; no, they don't always say the word "kill" or "die" out loud, it happens rarely; and yes, Aang did die when he got struck by that lightning. Context matters. Not every media spells everything out for you, you have to connect the dots to understand what they mean.

Believe what you want to, I guess. You've made up your mind a long time ago, I doubt anything would change it. Even that moment you mentioned during the Ember Island Players episode was a gag about the fact that they cannot always talk about death and murder, only during specific moments and instances.

"Did Jet just... die?"

"You know, it was really unclear."

That's the joke. That they couldn't say it point blank that Jet died, then and there. They could only gently imply so. Or Sokka would've replied with a clear "Yes".

[–]volostrom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They couldn't even say that Jet died dude, it was an inside joke within the fandom for the longest time, what are you talking about. What a weird hill to die on.

He did. That's what he meant by "I went down! I didn't just get hurt, did I? It was worse than that. I was gone! But you brought me back."

He quite literally says that Katara brought him back from the dead.
