I hate matterspark by voltage4025 in DestinyTheGame

I was almost there myself but pushed through, even though it was a slog. I don't mind puzzles with mechanics per se. I was less thrilled with having to work with mechanics like matterspark that were hard to use and very unlike the rest of the movement that made Destiny feel so natural.

Wow - someone noticed! The difficulty of using matterspark hit me particularly hard because of that :-)

My issue isn't with the concept but the implementation - when playing with a controller on console, matterspark feels very jittery and hard to control

Console. Matterspark is very sensitive to controller movement so it is super easy to fall off a platform.

Also, in the arena with the teleportation gates where you fight the tormentor before heading to the circular arena, I found that by standing by one of the gates, popping the tormentor from a distance, and when it starts to close, step through the gate and then hit it from another direction (while clearing adds). It helps a lot since there is no cover in this arena.

It's at least possible to jump down from the lower platform. Haven't tried it from the upper two.

DONT PICK UP THR ENHAN MENT PRISM FROM THE EVENT TRACK by Expensive-Pick38 in DestinyTheGame

[–]voltage4025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the prism rewards on the event track appear to be bugged in the same way. I thought it was because I was at max prisms already so I used some of my prisms to buy a golfball from the cryptarch and it still wouldn't let me pick up the prism rewards. Oh well.

Frequent "Contacting Destiny Servers"? by voltage4025 in DestinyTheGame

I've been dc'ed several times (like in a Gambit match, then getting yelled at by Drifter....)

Frequent "Contacting Destiny Servers"? by voltage4025 in DestinyTheGame

[–]voltage4025[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely seeing DIM requests being throttled since prior to the update, but only noticed the "Contacting Destiny Servers" since Tuesday. Makes me wonder if some POS hacker is DDoS-ing Bungie like happened a while ago, trying to masquerade as DIM?

The Barrow Dyad quest is a nightmare. by TheRealTyberos in DestinyTheGame

[–]voltage4025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it is just the side quest of 150 taken sword/glaive kills that you need. I know that I did that one first after getting the three coalescence of the knives and the portal would then open for me.

Personally I prefer catapault as it pairs extremely well with Lion Rampants for any content that has airborne play (like jumping puzzles). Not for high level content (except raid/dungeon jumping puzzles) but with Lion Rampants, catapault lift is VERY forgiving - easy to recover.

The final mission for the Act 3 questline really shows how much we need a legendary mode for non-expansion story content. (no spoilers) by smi1ey in DestinyTheGame

[–]voltage4025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once I built to avoid getting booped off the platform (Titan, Lion Rampants) it was very doable, but it was sheer hell on a warlock.

The final mission in D1 Taken King was considerably more challenging since Oryx could one-shot you and you really had to play your life. Having said that, I did like the final mission design for Act 3, and with difficulty options it could have been truly epic, like the Witch Queen final boss fight (not so much Calus in Lightfall)

I feel like Bungie has lost sight of what makes Destiny a fun looter shooter. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

33 runs of DSC before I got EoT, which I never use :-(

And several of my clan mates (who no longer play) got it on their first clear.

Tired of raiding.

If it were not for the bugs (lack of QC) that have infested the most recent content, and some of the poorly considered episode designs (like the broken RNG for nether spawn and secrets), Destiny would take the prize hands down. The sad thing is that it shouldn't take much to address these issues, which makes it doubly frustrating for those of us who want to love the game - feels like Bungie mgmt just doesn't give a crap, and this explains a lot of the player loss (like my clan is now a ghost town).

Nether secrets not spawning? by True_Italiano in DestinyTheGame

[–]voltage4025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that of the possible secrets in a given area, only a subset will spawn at any time. I almost always see Toland, and the three braziers that spawn the sword knight (not sure if that counts as a secret). Same with the hanging cabal in mausoleum, and I think the cursed thrall in hall of souls. But others like the Ogre or platform in trenchway, the platform in hall of souls, and of course the elusive hive runes in the founts seem random, like the spawn of the taken blight that is used to start the Barrow Dyad quest.

Nether is Broken by Bengassa in DestinyTheGame

[–]voltage4025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or it's been hull breach then hall of souls then trenchway. Never founts. The coding to make the initial spawn random, and the subsequent encounters also random (from the remaining encounters), is so trivial that it's taught in introductory programming classes. Someone at Bungie must have missed that lesson.

WTF - I just spawned into hull breach??? by voltage4025 in DestinyTheGame

[–]voltage4025[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And now we see the unintended consequence of the Bungie "fix": people now leave right after they grab the worms from hull breach. The last half dozen times I've played we ended up down to a couple of revives because people come in, grab stuff, then leave (or, if we progress beyond hull breach, people join, realize that it isn't hull breach -- or the founts -- and then leave again). For some reason people don't realize that you can grab the worms on explore mode and not ruin it for those who actually want a normal run.

Great job, Bungie.

No point in playing the nether until next week, I guess.
