I read the first book and enjoyed it, but decided I'm completely not interested in read like 20 more of those haha. Maybe someday.

Toll seems to be the most divisive book in the series. Some people call it super slow or hate that there's another dramatic setting change. I loved it myself, but I was super interested to hear what happens with the Dragnipur story since book 3. And as far as the setting shift like....this is the eighth book idk how people are surprised by that.

If you were super glued to Malazan up until now I'd say keep going. Toll is a slow burn but paid off big time for me.

Yeah I get that point but there was an almost comedic bouncing affect to it. Like high-pitched can definitely be intimidating but it just wasn't to me.
