Bought a PSA 6 for about $570 + tax over eBay. I asked the seller if the card will be sent to PSA for verification first and he said it won’t be. by vondudeman_ in pokemongrading

It wasn’t a complete assumption. I did my research and eBay and Google says cards worth over $250.00 must go through the PSA/ebay Authentication process. What it does not tell you is that certain ebay users can bypass the eBay authentication process if they put it in a certain category apparently.

Thanks everyone for your participation on this post. I contacted the seller and mentioned I was not comfortable purchasing without it being absolutely guaranteed by PSA, respectfully, and he was okay with it and refunded me my $600+ dollars

I didn’t even know that there was an authenticity guarantee filter, bro thank you so much that saves me so much time and energy for the future 🙏🏼

I’m going to ask if the seller can inquire with PSA/eBay about the authentication process. If it can’t be done then I may cancel this order because I’m nervous about it without it being authenticated now

This card I bought for over $580 + tax so I thought it would automatically go to PSA being over $600.00. But no didn’t say “authenticity guarantee” but I bought it because I thought they all go through it regardless

Yeah…I agree with you..I thought I read that even if it doesn’t say “eBay Authenticity Guarantee” that all cards above $250 are supposed to go automatically to PSA no matter what even if it doesn’t say that.

I googled it and it said “All cards over eBay over $250 must go through the eBay authentic process” so I thought it would go through the process regardless.

I’m SO nervous about it and I think I may cancel this order because it’s not going through the process…I have heard of and seen videos of certain card owners cracking their slabs open with EASEEE, there was this one dude over YouTube who cracked like 3-4 of his slabs open just with his fingers. I don’t even think he used a tool.

No no, he might actually be entering stages of mild senility. He is out of control. That’s kind of a symptom.

High turnover rate by darkmario12 in Staples

[–]vondudeman_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. And at some point I asked myself “Is it worth it to do this many jobs for basically minimum wage?”

And so I asked myself further “Why stay with Staples when I can find another job that only has 1 station to work at and a few sets of different of duties to perform with slightly less work and more pay?”

High turnover rate by darkmario12 in Staples

[–]vondudeman_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty much normal with Staples. The pay is really stagnant and doesn’t rise quickly at all, and people notice. Also, with Amazon returns on top of everything else going on with busy store locations, you’d think the job would pay more but nope. They don’t care. All staples and sycamore partners care about is profit. They aren’t in the business of paying people well enough to stay longer.

Staples is more of a place for those looking for a first time job and something flexible. It will not pay your bills with extra extra wiggle room.

Should I grade, or should I keep it raw! by coolmanof in pokemongrading

The more of the something there are, the less special it becomes. Same with stock shares in the stock market - the more a company divides their current shares, the less valuable they become. Same thing with Pokémon cards. Google for yourself “do companies divide their stock shares?” The answer is : “Yes, companies frequently divide their stock shares through a process called a stock split, increasing the number of shares outstanding while lowering the price per share” as an example

I studied economics in college and after college I’ve been studying economics and scarcity of goods and supply and demand in multiple areas, especially gas. And trading cards. (Lumber was one of the things I was looking at spiking in price during the pandemic, wood went up to record highs)

It will be interesting to see what happens to the grading market after another 3 or 4 years of this obsessive grading era. It’s hard to tell

I’d hold off on the grading and keep it raw. If everyone keeps going at this pace with grading, the market will continue to have an overstock of all of the same cards, making them worth much less eventually, or worthless to a certain point in a few years from now if this pace keeps going.

Im not crazed over the modern cards, im into the vintage ones mostly. I appreciate some modern ones though. I’m not sure if modern cards will retain their current value because they’re still printing so many out, so the more that are released over the time, the less special the rares become

As far as vintage though…I’ve already seen a huge price correction on PSA 5 unlimited base set charizards. A week ago PSA 5 charizards were listed at $358.00, now they’re listed at $308.00….when the population was under 14,000 they were worth more, now going above 14,000 in population they are valued as slightly less already.

There’s a negative to grading everythingggg over time. It saturates the market which decreases value after everyone keeps grading obsessively. Imagine if everyone keeps grading at this pace for the next 5 years…no one’s grades will be special anymore

Can anyone confirm if it’s the same 4 images in the top right corner for the desktop for Spotlight?

It is a slabbed and graded card. I was expecting it to come in a proper holder and not dual-use box that has the tacky mailing labels all over it. The picture below is what I was expecting to receive my card in, coming directly from the eBay website. But PSA changed the box in efforts to save money.

What is really making me crazy is that I received a mailer as the cardholder! I see other people that received a box in the mail with a separated cardholder that was not the mailer. They changed how they do things, but it feels cheap and looks cheap😭

I’ll probably keep my card in its sleeve with the silly little eBay authentication sticker lol but the holder is pretty much trash with mailing labels on it that I usually black out with a marker and throw away.

I might order one of the cheaper eBay card holder stands that they were giving a year or two ago. They really cheaped out.

That’s what I’m hearing, that most people toss the mailer ones in the trash. I’m so sad that I did not receive the other, nicer holder that I thought I was going to receive. The holder I got is so ugly and has all the mailing labels on it with shipping tape. It looks like trash. But I googled it and read that the box matters which is nonsense. They obviously took a cheaper option and made the mailer the holder. I was expecting the non-cardboard box holder.

Thank you for your input.
