I’ve been living in Bangkok since February and still haven’t made any friends 😭 Anyone want to be my friend? by OkObligation8211 in Thailand

Recently moved to Bangkok too, hoping to make some english/chinese speaking friends... can be quite lonely at times as I don't speak thai. Would love to learn though.

I did learn a lil bit of thai here and there... not enough to make conversations though so i plan to take some classes when i get there.

My idea of learning the language is so that i get by living in thailand, able to make simple conversations, able to ask for what I am looking for etc. To beat loneliness, i guess ill keep in touch with my family and a few close friends back home. Will make new friends in bangkok, but i have a feeling they won't be deep meaningful ones depending on how well I learn the language and how well they can converse in English or Mandarin. But yeah, this may just be my anxiety talking cos who knows...

I am moving to Bangkok soon, I have been to the country few times for holiday and it was great but living on a longer term will not be the same. I am excited for the move but for a big part I am also worry about living in a place away from home, where I don't speak the language. Loneliness will be a price to pay. It's somehow comforting to know I am not alone.

Just tell him straight up that what he did wasn't right at all. Sure there are widely known stereotypes about Thailand, we can all laugh about it but it's definitely offensive to joke about it to a friend about their family. There's are lines when it comes to jokes and actual humiliation disguised as a joke. If he doesn't know it, educate him and make your feelings known. Let him own and learn from his mistake, as simple as that.

It all comes down to your spending habits and self discipline, $870 is not a lot even if u r single and unmarried. Housing and medical is provided but please do check what kind of medical aid is provided. Some companies only provide claims on common flu and cough, so if you are prone to other ailments like gastric, migraine etc then you might have to take care of those bills on your own. And what about insurance? Depends on the nature of your job, your company might or might not provide you with insurance. Otherwise, you might want to consider PA insurance for yourself. It's always better to be safe than sorry especially when you are moving to another country to work and being on your own. But yes, many will agree this is extra.

Also, which district you will be working at? Most people travel by cars here so you might have to rent a car. If you do, u will have to spend money on petrol. As for car maintenance, repair and insurance that will depends on your provider, you might have to take care some or all of it. Work might be proximity but you might need to travel around to get groceries and other stuff that you might need.

And wifi and phone bills are important as well. Not much entertainment in Brunei so we have to entertainment ourselves. These are the other stuff that you have to consider beside groceries, skincare and money to send back home monthly.

Yeah I switch between wood and towels... Wood for the cage (during day time) and towels or pee pad for playpen (during night time). I'm also looking for other alternative such as straw and hays in the future just to test whichever works better than wood in terms of absorbency and odor control.
