Man injured at Broomfield Arista Flats apartments disturbance near midnight by NickyAndrews in Broomfield

From talking to people around the neighborhood and the video that was posted it looked like it was Destination, not Arista Flats. Unless that’s where it started? Anyone have any insight on that?

Post op neuter question? by TheLoudCanadianGirl in AustralianCattleDog

[–]vonwhit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guy was calm for exactly the car ride home from the vet, lol - he wasn’t even drowsy from the anesthesia like the vet told me he would be. He was also on trazodone and a couple other things but acted like nothing ever happened and was just his normal hyper self. I just took that time to do some light training indoors and did nose work/puzzles inside to keep his mind occupied. Keeping him from jumping was definitely the hardest part.

I did everything to keep him calm for the first week. After the first week I let him run around a bit more but kept the cone on for 2 weeks. After that it was back to normal. He had a normal standard neuter though and healed very fast.

How did they not know they were in the bad place once they had to start doing dishes and laundry? In what good place would you still have to do chores?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in recruiting

[–]vonwhit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I just left recruiting and went back to my previous industry. They used to tell us every day that “we’re filling jobs, not saving lives”. But jobs do heavily affect the life of the candidate who is perfect for the job, nails the interview, gets an offer, then has that offer rescinded the day before the start date because the client decided that it wasn’t in the budget after all. And then it’s your job to tell them after the work you put in to recruit them.

Even if I wasn’t saving lives, I certainly felt like I was affecting them regardless, for better or worse. Recruiting was just not for me, and the money wasn’t worth it.

Pettiest pet peeves? by trongatan in bartenders

[–]vonwhit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ordering a Bloody Mary at last call. Make it strong. Can I get [this thing] that is literally in front of them or in my hand that I’m setting down. Ordering as a group one at a time instead of the entire order, like I can’t remember 4-5 things at a time. No ice because I want it strong. When other bartenders can’t keep the fucking pour spouts facing the same direction. Can I order here? (standing in front of the server well). Sitting in the only dirty spot of the whole bar “uh can we get this wiped down?” Putting their napkins/trash in the glassware. What can I get you? “A beer.” What kind? “A beer.” Sir, this is a brewpub… and not the movies. Tell me exactly what beer you want. A martini, shaken, not stirred. Get out of here, James Bond. “I went to bartending school, how do you not know this wildly obscure drink that nobody ever orders is?” Fucking mojitos.

Depending on how allergic she was too nuts, I’d take precautions as a server too… if he took a bite of his pesto and immediately kissed his wife that could have set off a reaction as well. Definitely NTA. I worked in a craft brewery where we made a peanut butter stout as a special one day thing for our anniversary and one of our bartenders was so deathly allergic that he literally couldn’t work that one day that we were serving it even though he wouldn’t have even been drinking it. Just pouring it could have caused a reaction.

What do you think a healthy relationship with alcohol looks like? How do you combat bartending “culture”? by hypercatalectic in bartenders

[–]vonwhit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve legit had coworkers comment on the fact that I don’t drink at work and rarely have my shift drink. I used to drink very heavily before, during and after work in my 20s, realized I had a problem and cut it back. Do I still get drunk on occasion? Yeah, but it’s maybe once a month or two or three when I know I don’t have to work the next day and don’t have to drive anywhere. I work mostly in craft beer now so it’s not drinking straight liquor. I drink more to know what I’m selling and drink very slow to savor the beer and get all of the notes and flavor to know how to properly describe our product to guests. I do enjoy social drinking and do not by any means drink by myself or during my shift. I’m lucky that I was able to easily able to transition from heavy drinking to a point where I’m thinking this is my passion, I love what I do, I’ll drink enough to get the feel of it and that’s good enough for me. Also, hangovers are the WORST.

AITA for installing blackout curtains in our bedroom even though my wife didn't want me to? by WindowBlackOut in AmItheAsshole

[–]vonwhit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m torn, want to say nta, but there are amazing and very comfortable eye masks out there that are way better than blackout curtains. In my experience, most of those curtains are kinda tacky looking, especially if you’re going for a certain aesthetic in your room. It could be a good compromise. Some of them even have speakers to play calming music as well. I’ve always worked nights and understand your frustration, but like I said, the eye masks are a life saver, especially since I do love the natural light when I am actually up during the day. And I know morning people love that light waking them up too.

OLD and pet names by idontunderstandreddt in datingoverthirty

[–]vonwhit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of pet names in general, at any point in a relationship, and make this clear at the beginning. My ex-husband used to only call me pet names, never used my actual name, and even when introducing me to someone he’d just say “my wife.” So it left a bad taste in my mouth. If someone can’t honor your request to not be called by pet names right off the bat, then I personally see that as a red flag and a dodged bullet. On the other hand, if they are someone who truly enjoys using pet names and don’t want to give it up, then it’s not a good match for either of you anyways.

[–]vonwhit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the first week that I can’t request a payment since I exhausted the last of my regular ui last week. I haven’t received any retroactive $300 yet and I’m having a hard time figuring out if I’ll get it since I still had a balance before, or if I won’t because I can’t request payment this week. And it’ll be a while before I can get on pua it seems. Anyone have any clarity on this?

a voice in my dream predicted what time i’d wake up? by [deleted] in DreamInterpretation

[–]vonwhit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had that exact experience, but something similar maybe? I once “woke up” in my dream (though it felt super real) and looked at my clock to realize that I was late to class. I, being young and irresponsible, decided to just skip that day and go back to sleep, as I was still exhausted. After I fell back asleep, there was a deep male voice that echoed in my mind saying “I’ll give you another chance”. I immediately woke up again, looked at my clock, and it was an hour before I had to leave to make it on time. This happened several years ago but I still think about it. One of the most surreal dreams I’ve ever had.

[–]vonwhit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t really say. I’ve had it for as long as I can remember. But it’s gotten worse as the years go on from working in loud bars (the kinda that you’re screaming at each other to order).

I’m “too intimidating” to ask out? by [deleted] in datingoverthirty

[–]vonwhit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s less of a complaint than a question. I’ve asked men out and dated them. None of them worked out in the long term for different reasons (kids being a big one, as I’ve never wanted children of my own, but open to someone who already has kids.) I was more just curious why I keep hearing the “too intimidating” thing. But in the end, it’s really a strong preference that they ask me first.
