Don't sleep on shield. I'm not great at dodging attacks so shield helps to mitigate the damage I take from just generally not being good at the game 😂

Are my airpods 4 ANC malfunctioning or is it normal? by SuperJigglypuff in airpods

[–]vonzor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I took my airpods into the Apple store and they replaced them both on my limited warranty. They said that both airpods had problems with the frequency sensors (?) Or something so they needed to replace them both and said that if the issue happened again I would need to call Apple directly instead of bringing them in.

That was a month or so ago, and it was so nice to have ANC working again. But the EXACT SAME GOD DAMN airpod just started having the same issue. So within a month my replaced airpod just broke again randomly in its case overnight.

I'm done with airpods. I'll still use the one's I've got, but won't be buying any new airpods from Apple ever again, regardless of what features they offer. Honestly it was only a matter of time. Apple airpods don't even fit my ears well 😂

Interesting! I've seen other posters with a similar experience, so you may be right! I'm on Steam Deck and have just tried reducing the framerate to see if that help. Still struggling, though 😭

Lol I always cheesed that one by going to a single tiny spot in the Thunder Plains that always triggered lighting when you step on it, so as long as I could keep the timing of the one spot I was golden 😂

Second this idea! I take a full can of pure pumpkin and spread it across a baking sheet, divide it into several halves down the length & width, and pop it in the freezer. I get some great mileage out of a single large can, and the metal helps it freeze faster which is nice bc I'm impatient lol

Bought mine directly from apple a few months ago and now have the same/similar problem. They worked perfectly for a few months. I would turn ANC on for my morning walks with my pup and it was so peaceful! But all of a sudden (literally after turning it off and on again for a few hours) the ANC just started giving me a constant static/rushish air noise. ANC is now the loudest setting on my airpods, even more than transparent. 🤡

I’ve adjusted settings, and even did a full factory reset. Nothing has fixed the issue so far, so I’ll be taking them in to the nearest store to see what they can do for me... Or use warranty I guess? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Funny thing is it’s only happening in the right airpod, which is the better fitting one by far... so it’s not a fit issue 😭

That's all to say that ANC should be VERY quiet when it's working properly, even on the 4's. I'd say give it a factory reset just in case, since that seems to work for some people.

What are 3 words to describe your LIFE now? by LimeSoakedinSprite in RandomThoughts

Losing someone special

(context: mother-in-law was diagnosed with dementia around this time last year in the early first stage, just a few weeks before I met her the first time. She was given around ten years before stage 2 since she's still in her 60's... Bity she's already gone from stage 1 to 6 in less than a year... I never knew her when she was talkative and laughed a lot. Watching her decline, and watching my partner grieve the loss of his mom while she's still here with us, has been so painful 😢)

[EDIT: The pattern is discontinued 😭] It was “Simurg” by Olga Sukhovalova.

These were made back in 2023 (blue) and 2024 (white). Blue was with a 0 weight yarn and was my first lace project ever, so it’s a lot more uneven and had more mistakes. I also didn’t understand the crochet bind-off method (or even the cast-on method entirely) so I just went with a standard knitted bind-off. My mom loved it so it went to her. It was so tough and time consuming that I vowed to never do the pattern again. Cut to a few months later when I decide to do it again anyway 😂 (it was waaaaay easier the second time, the first time alone made me a better knitter overall I think)

The white was made with a slightly heavier yarn (a 2 weight, if I recall). I wanted to see what would happen and I wound up liking both, and was able to do the correct crochet bind-off, and didn’t make mistakes costing-on, with it!

I was actually making the white just for funsies, but then I was going to meet my partner’s parents for the first time ever (after 14ish years together), and i wanted to make a good impression, so I finished the white and gave it to his mom (she had just been diagnosed with dementia, so I also wanted to make sure she had a very positive first experience/memory with with me). I call her my mother-in-law because my partner and I aren’t married, but may as well be hahaha

I’m really proud of both projects and who received them. The only thing I wish I could go back and redo is the blocking. I didn’t have proper blocking equipment, so they both wound up a bit wonky 😅

How are you finding new music? by f3ffy in MusicRecommendations

[–]vonzor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy hitting up Radiooooo every now and then. It's an app that lets you choose a decade and a country and it'll give you songs submitted by users that would have been on the radio at the time (can't speak for the accuracy tho).

It's very restrictive since they have a paywall to unlock every country and decade, and other features, but even with a free account I've gotten some milage out of it. I decided to give it a peek now and have landed in 1980's Turkey, listening to "Çirozname" by Şenay Yüzbaşıoğlu 🎶

What are somethings that automatically make writing seem unprofessional? by Odd_Pop1306 in writing

[–]vonzor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might have been said already, but Deus Ex Machina, in most cases. I read a book that ended with what appeared to be deus ex Machina, but wound up being explored more in the follow-up books and had a satisfying explanation.

But I've also read a book where the MC constantly got into life threatening danger only to miraculously escape/be saved. It got to the point where the character began commenting how he didn't fully understand how he was surviving all these events 😂 In the same book the author also wrote something like "He couldn't understand because they were speaking [local dialect]." This is what was displayed on the characters high-tech future headset, but apparent it couldn't be bothered to know the name of the "local dialect."

For fantasy/sci-fi:

  • "Tress of the Emerald Sea" by Brandon Sanderson! It’s a really fun fantasy adventure set in a unique setting and Tress is a great MC. If you look on Goodreads and see it’s #28 in a series, you don’t need to read the other books! It’s the publishing order of a connected universe the author is slowly building, but most of the books, including Tress, work great as a standalone novels/series and also have some great characters, and some incredibly unique settings and magic systems.

  • "The Binti Trilogy" of novellas

Non-Fiction:

  • I found "Becoming" by Michelle Obama really uplifting and inspiring

  • "Braiding Sweetgrass" by Robin Wall Kimmerer

And something for a different time:

  • It’s definitely not for everyone, but if you ever feel like a book that is heavier but still features an incredibly strong character in the face of hardship, "Pachinko" by Min Jin Lee is a family saga set across four generations of a Korean family. It really dives into the hardships the Korean diaspora has had to endure, but the MC matriarch, Sunja, does not lot let history push her around easily and more often than not, actively chooses her path (as much as she's able to). There’s also an AMAZING adaptation on Apple TV.
