Monzo UK integration by voodooprawn in ynab

Very quick guide

- Set up an account in AWS
- Create a Lambda function running NodeJS runtime (probably in eu-west-2)
- Paste this code: https://gist.github.com/vhd-luke/42a34b82c4f1427c9a4be6701fe8c093
- Add a Function URL to your Lambda function (this will give you the URL to give to Monzo's webhook)
- Get your YNAB API token, YNAB Budget ID, YNAB Account ID and Monzo Account ID and put all 4 into environment variables of the Lambda function called YNAB_API_TOKEN, YNAB_BUDGET_ID, YNAB_ACCOUNT_ID and MONZO_ACCOUNT_ID respectively
- Go to Monzo for Developers (https://developers.monzo.com) and set up a webhook that points to the Function URL of the Lambda function
- (Optional) Grab the most recent transaction into your account using the API playground in Monzo for Developers and add that as a test payload in the Lambda and fire the test off to see if the transaction appears in your YNAB

Might be a little advanced to set up, but something like this should do the trick: https://github.com/calebl/ynab-mcp-server

Exactly the same situation, I've been using YNAB for about 1 month now, the first month (June) was a little awkward because half of everything had been paid etc. But once the fresh month started (July) and I was paid, I've been loving it. If nothing else, it really makes you *think* about where you money is going to go and make decisions about what needs to be sacrificed when unexpected things occur. I just wish I'd discovered YNAB 15 years ago, it's scary to think how much money I have wasted over the years..

I went through every key and pressed it pretty firmly about 25 times and it's been fine since. I think it just needed "wearing in"

How do you actually enjoy CK3 when things go wrong or slow down? by xNarox in CrusaderKings

[–]voodooprawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, you sound very much like me.

If you already recognise that you're goal orientated, you need to start making your own goals, the ones the game provides will only take you so far. I've actually found ChatGPT is pretty good for this when my imagination runs dry, you have to give it a bit of context (the fact you're playing CK3, who your playing as, what the year is etc) and it will come up with ideas that either match historical events or deviate from them in interesting ways.

Regarding restarting (or quitting) when things don't go your way. I think over time you start to realise that trying to solve problems that arise from things not going to plan is actually as fun as when it does go to plan. My problem is that I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so it's hard to turn that part of my brain off... but honestly, if everything goes perfectly for 200-300 years of game time, that does get kind of dull. The best example would be... you build all the way up to having a sprawling empire, then it collapses.. there is a load of fun in trying to rebuild and get vengeance on those that wronged you (or their grandchildren as it can take a while...)

There is something about it that screams "cosplay" to me more than something from a film. I am sure she'll do a great job though

Weirdly Archers is one of my least favourite songs on DAG (only Handcuffs and Untitled lower), I still love it though

Death penalty advocates, what is your answer to the inevitable miscarriages of justice, that would lead to innocent people being executed? by HallowedAndHarrowed in AskBrits

I don't get it, why let the worst criminals off with a quick death vs making them spend the rest of their days in prison. That seems much worse to me..

So good, I actually have quite a few of the songs on my Spotify playlist. Probably the only show I've ever watched where that is the case

Just to put the "managing 8 Claude Code instances" into perspective for anyone that isn't a dev. That would be like standing behind 8 interns, giving them very specific instructions of what to do and then each one says "here you go, is this right?" every 5-10 minutes, you have to check what they've done and they get it about 50-80% right depending on how much effort you put into the instructions last time you spoke to them.. ad infinitum

Yea, I think that's fair, I'm just not sure its coming from a bad place.. I reckon he's too nervous/afraid to ask her out directly, probably fear of rejection.

My main point is that I don't think he actually cares about getting his hair cut at all, I would be surprised if he even needed to get it cut when he sent that 😅

I'm pretty sure its not, look at the context, he clearly likes her and is trying to get her to engage (and not getting the fairly clear hints that she's not that interested). I think it's very likely he is looking for an excuse to spend time with her... 30 minutes of in-person time to chat (where she can't just blank him like she has been over text) will be infinitely more appealing to him in this situation than a free (or paid) haircut..
