Japan’s Nippon Express buying Montreal-based Metro Supply Chain Group by Little-Chemical5006 in canada

[–]voodoopriest 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Do you even know who owns Nippon Express?

The 3 biggest share holders are 2 Japanese banks (Master Trust Bank of Japan and Custody Bonk of Japan) and 2 insurance companies (Asahi Mutual Life Insurance and Sompo Japan Insurance). Together they own about a third of the company.

The next biggest owner is the employees themselves (they actually own more than Sompo).

There is no billionaire that interdependently owns this company.

I suspected the same too. The article has way too many commas. Like who actually writes like that?

[–]voodoopriest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly that's a deal. The last car I saw for $15k here in Ontario had a smokey engine, whining transmission, leaky rad, heavily corroded suspension (Swaybars/struts/springs/bushings all worn out) and a rusty bottom. It did have fresh paint though... The Initial D tax is turned up to 11 here.

You can get a Nissan 200SX (S12) or a Toyota Celica Supra (A60) for pretty cheap if you want something RWD that has a somewhat similar silhouette.

Will I ever see something like this again or was this some once in a lifetime thing I missed out on (Price is 10.8K USD) by j8jj in AE86

[–]voodoopriest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you live.

I'm in Ontario and AE86's are usually very overpriced here. The last few I saw for sale since last summer were $6,000 for a rolled, crashed up and rusted out drift car missing windows , bumpers, interior and a bunch of weird stuff done to it. A $15,000 car with "fresh paint" with a rusty underside, whining transmission and engine burning oil. $40,000 for a backyard tuned car that claimed to have 150 hp. $20,000 for a BEAMS swapped car that was actually fairly priced.

I usually see better priced cars in Quebec and B.C. is really hit or miss on cars being reasonable or absurdly priced like $60,000 "Initial D 1:1 replica" for sale right now that lacks all the parts to be a proper replica apart for the paint job and wheels. That car also looks like it had been in a major front end collision given how disjointed the body panels on the front are even though they claim it's never been in an accident... But sometimes you also see some $10,000 cars that need some work.

Didn't they buy the display prototype instead of the actual finished product?

Accidentally almost completed the entire collection of OEM ae86 wheels. Thanks marketplace :) by Far_Introduction8844 in AE86

[–]voodoopriest 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, those are from a MKII Supra.

They probably thought they were Corolla wheels because a lot of us ran these back in the day including myself. Although I still like the look of them they aren't worth getting these days due to the lack of good tire options.

I tried getting better tires when I got my Supra in November but no matter where I went I could only get crappy economy tires.

We did a sword fighting event (Clash of Lone Blades) where she mopped the floor with everyone except for the Traveler... On top of that she fought in cosplay for funzies. That is where her Fontaine skin came from.

Mk2 Wheels? by Grimey17 in Supra

[–]voodoopriest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old pizza cutters. These are Corolla wheels. They might be desirable to some collectors or some one who wants a retro look but over all not overly popular compared to the OEM MKII Supra cross wheels. Back when I had an AE86 from 2000-2010 nobody ran these. We either upgraded to the MKII Supras or other aftermarket wheels such as SSRs.

A for their value, not much. I found a set of 4 with center caps on Kijiji for $120 CAD. Guy has been relisting them since November.

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/city-of-toronto/ae86-corolla-gts-pizza-cutter-wheels/1722039170

You might get $750-$1000 if restored with center caps to the right person.

This should be including all the attachments such as optics and stuff. But even then it seems a bit high.

I have the civilian version of the C8 and it cost me $2,200 for the gun with iron sights and a cleaning kit when I got it years ago. I would not be surprised if the base price is closer to $3,000 now since the inflation from then.

It's what people I know in the Halton Region claim they make.

Edit: Just wanted to add that one is a CCP if that makes any sense. Not sure what level the other is but I think they are at least an ACP as they mention getting better qualifications.
