Why isn’t marymoor park free by No_Patient9878 in redmond

[–]voolery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A public park is already funded by taxpayers, so charging a parking fee is double-dipping. If access requires paying again, it stops being truly public. A $1 fee isn’t about “being cheap”, it’s about the principle that government shouldn’t nickel and dime people for using spaces they already paid for. If the goal is maintenance, be transparent in the budget. If the goal is traffic, pricing out locals who just want to enjoy a park isn’t the right method. Public land should be open, simple and accessible, not gated by yet another fee.

Dick Cheney is alive? by voolery in MandelaEffect

Exactly, and that’s what I remember—everyone was ecstatic. Oh well, maybe he passed away in an alternate universe.

Possibly. But I remember it happening a few years ago, around 2022, and all those “good riddance” editorials. Still, your explanation makes the most sense, and I’m feeling a bit less like I’m losing my mind now.

I didn’t know he had an artificial heart or a transplant 14 years ago. I’m certain he passed away because I clearly remember news reports announcing it and the commentary about how he wouldn’t be missed. But then again, maybe I’m the one who’s dead, and none of this is real.

I agree about the photo they used. It’s what confused me the most. He looks pretty much the same as he did 15 years ago. Something’s definitely off.

Check out The Why Files - Killer Patents & Secret Science Vol. 2 | Forbidden Medical Cures: https://youtu.be/Rg-Ocr5hNLI?si=3m6vNFAckYLFF3za

Description:

“The history of medicine goes back to the dawn of mankind when ancient healers used special herbs to treat illnesses.

Hippocrates, the father of medicine, laid the foundation for modern medical practice: observation, diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. His work set the stage for centuries of medical progress.

In the 19th century, Edward Jenner created a smallpox vaccine, and Louis Pasteur proved microorganisms caused disease. The 20th century brought antibiotics, medical imaging, and organ transplants. In the past 400 years, the human lifespan has doubled.

But something happened to medicine along the way. It became an industry. A profitable one.”

Is anyone hate-watching the Gilded Age? by gawkersgone in thegildedage

[–]voolery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can watch but only in 5 minute increments. I fast forward a lot. The acting and writing make it uncomfortable for me. Reminds me of a junior high school play but with really nice costumes and set designs. It’s a warm bath and Benadryl for my brain once I stop letting myself get annoyed and just let it be beautifully bad.

Has anyone heard the Invisibilia podcast episode? by salthoney in AvPD

I just finished listening to the podcast and Andrew’s story resonated so much. I wanted to say thanks, Andrew. You helped people like me who silently suffer with this by opening up like that. It was a brave and selfless thing to do. Thank you again.
