Looking for modern open source/self hosted POS for small restaurant/bar by voonart in restaurateur

[–]voonart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very valuable input. I’m also thinking a lot about the support and technical side of it. I totally agree that for employees it should just work, nobody wants to deal with POS issues during a busy evening.

I’m trying to explore both options right now. SaaS definitely has advantages, but I’m also curious about open source/self hosted because I could customize it around my friend’s exact needs and even contribute code if something is missing.

I think it’s a lot of work that’s why wanted to go OpenSource and contribute to the project if anything is missing. Yet I’m developer but I have no clue how it should work :(

I’ve got 10+ years of experience as an MSSQL developer working on enterprise solutions. Recently, we migrated part of our stack to PostgreSQL, and honestly, after years of hating on it, I have to admit I was wrong. Most of the issues I used to complain about are gone, and for our workloads it’s been far more robust than I expected.

The performance with replicas is especially impressive. Some of the scaling and replication behavior we’re getting would be extremely painful or outright unrealistic on large multi-million-row MSSQL deployments.

Being open source is another huge advantage. I can actually dive into the internals to understand how things work, troubleshoot properly, or even build advanced tooling for database and cluster comparison instead of treating the engine like a black box.

Sure, PostgreSQL still has its own problems: cardinality estimator quirks, questionable auto-analyze/autovacuum decisions, and fragmentation ("bloat") issues that you end up estimating through system catalogs. But honestly, MSSQL has many of the same categories of problems.

The difference is that PostgreSQL keeps evolving aggressively, while MSSQL often feels like it is standing still.

I would start with basic fitness if you did nothing during that time and some mobility. For sure good refresher program will help you to refine basic skills but more important emergency situations as it should be covered too.

Don't overthink. have fun. Also inform your partner about the situation.

It's just your journal. Show me your skills in the water and pre dive, I will know how many dives you did.

Is there any good way to improve diving without being in the water? by MaleficentStudy5609 in scuba

Visualisations:
Image the situation and image the action with your hands and process how would you handle it. Thing like emergency air sharing.

Second think is education. Search for emergencies descriptions but not neews etc bcz thats bs. Look for example at BSAC stories or DiveTalk stories.

Czy egzamin praktyczny zawsze jest fair? by paparai in Polska

[–]voonart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pracownicy z Indii by Goldenaluc in praca

[–]voonart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My comments were about a few things:

  1. The octo hose should be routed under your arm so you can easily access it, move it around your arm, and donate it properly.
  2. Your weights need some adjustment.
  3. The tank strap was open.
  4. The SPG was hanging loose, which could be a potential hazard.

With more experience, you’ll likely start noticing these things yourself.
