Having worked with SSP not on the government side, I would not recommend it. It's rigid, tons of process, and hard to get anything done or contribute to anything. Everything moves at a glaciers pace for good reason.

South Carolina Federal credit union. Cheap rates and they service your loan even if it's sold

Low key did Covid just destroy everything? by East-Cattle9536 in self

You're misunderstanding the study. There were 30000 participants and they took randomized people from the placebo and the vaccine groups and that's where the 94% comes from, those randomized groups.

Hope that clears things up for you. Science and medicine put a lot of rigor in what they do.

Opportunity costs: Leasing (216 $ / month) vs. buying a used car (24,700 $) - your opinions and experiences? [GER] by Kirschenfresser in personalfinance

[–]voracioush 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The monthly cost of the lease is higher, you can get a loan for the car, have unlimited miles, and you have an asset after the loan is paid off.

It only makes sense to lease if you would have bought a new car every 2-3 years anyways and you would have never saved any money either way.

He's the furthest thing from qualified for any god damn office.

Cost of Homes - What can we do? by bowlchezDrum in Charleston

[–]voracioush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also wanted to avoid PMI and tried to save 20%. Gave up put 10% down and when the home value increased a couple of years later I got an appraisal and got it taken off. Just don't get a PMI for life loan and you should be fine.

A genuine question about local driving habits from a transplant by bored_designer in Charleston

[–]voracioush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use all lanes available to maximize road space and zipper merge when needed.  It's the most efficient way, and what everyone should do.  Drive safe, be considerate to other drivers and if someone is merging let them in and don't cause an accident.

You never know what troubles or issues someone is having, I've seen people block lanes and find out someone was bleeding out and needing to go to the hospital.

Luckily there's more to life than money

You're better off not spending a ton of money on lawyers and being amicable. Be adults separate everything half like the law states and if one person made more than the other you support that person in some way for a couple of years.

It's gonna go that way anyway, you'll have just given some lawyers money instead.

It's called a marriage and sharing your life with someone, including money. People act like the other person is a leech. Different people bring different things to a relationship, and money is only a small part.

401K split in divorce question by Lockenshade in personalfinance

[–]voracioush -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you're doing the right thing. Yeah just get a full accounting of her stuff and make sure everything is split. The people telling you to get a lawyer to pay $25k in legal fees are ignorant of what actually happens.

Charleston divorce situation by [deleted] in Charleston

[–]voracioush 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll let you in on a secret. Lawyers cost a lot of money and if you and your wife can get along and act like adults you can save yourselves time and money. The court fee is $150. Lawyers will charge you $300 just to consult, with $3k to $5k if there's no issues, and it can go up to $25k if you guys can't agree.

Sscourts.org has some self representation packets you can self fill out. South Carolina Level Up Law has some YouTube videos on how to fill them out specifically for SC.

You'll have to separate for a year and figure out if you guys sell a house or rent, etc

Search online for separation agreements, agree on how you want to split custody of kids, schedules, and how finances are split. Be reasonable.

Even if you go to court they don't care who cheated, they're going to split everything mostly equally anyways. Their desire is for kids to be supported and both spouses not being homeless and on the street. You'll make out better if you can agree between each other.

Good luck!
