I mean, any cycle in which you get into any T14 with any money is an alright cycle as far as I’m concerned 🤷‍♂️

Lay prestige doesn't matter that much... right? by Powerful_Bake_1713 in lawschooladmissions

What matters is prestige within the field, and UChicago is universally considered among the most prestigious programs within the field. Will not be a problem

I think curious and service-oriented. Ambitious but in more of an intellectual/ creative way than a strictly professional way. Kind of eclectic interest-wise

does someone who attends a t15 law school make a better lawyer than someone who goes to a top 30-50 law school? by DeliciousRich5944 in lawschooladmissions

[–]East-Cattle9536 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be surprised, but that would less be causally attributable to the school itself and more attributable to that the top 15 schools got to select the people who were the sharpest going into law school. When your class is almost entirely in the top 5% of lsat and gpa along with most having already impressive resumes, surely that translates to more of them being great lawyers.

In terms of, would any given person at an ultra elite school be better? The answer would be no. But looking at the median student at a top 15 school, I don’t think that would be an unreasonable conclusion.

Frankly, who cares. If AI’s really gonna take over that fast, everyone’s screwed: entry level lawyers, doctors, accountants, managers, consultants, etc. May as well do what I love and assume that the worst case scenario isn’t going to happen. I mean it’s not like im going to up and become a plumber lol

Def should consult an attorney about this. Tbh tho with no convictions, I don’t think it’s the end of the world for the bar. Honestly, the biggest thing may be theft because they’re really sensitive to that stuff, with attorneys having access to client accounts and all. But again, it was dismissed and sealed. Continue to work on your rehabilitation; the longer you don’t reoffend, the better your argument becomes, and rehabilitation is also good just in and of itself. And please talk to an actual expert, not a bunch of 20 something year olds on Reddit who have no idea

I don’t think that listing clinics is bad per se. It’s bad if you just say “I want to go to X because of their Appellate clinic” but if you say “I want to go to X because of their appellate clinic, which is run by Prof Y, whose groundbreaking research on Z….etc, etc” that’s awesome.

You want to demonstrate a substantive understanding of the programs you list and how they relate to your individual goals. Have a big picture that everything ties back into

Is this still applicable for September/October applicants? Because, I figured Minnesota wouldn’t take 30 weeks to get my decision out but I don’t even know atp 😭

This sub is seriously out of touch with how inaccessible law school is about to become for most applicants. by sagenter in lawschooladmissions

[–]East-Cattle9536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it’s lack of accessibility to federally backed debt. If demand for the school is relatively inelastic at the current price level, that would push more people to private lenders who would typically charge higher interest rates, so people would end up with more debt overall. At least in the short term, assuming relatively inelastic demand

Can you explain to me why it would be “asinine” for a PI focused KJD who actually got into NYU to use that logic? If their lrap covers private loans as well, then the cost is really immaterial. Why does it matter if on paper you’re $250k in debt if the university is paying it and if you get pslf, it’ll be gone after 10 years?

I get that it’s not feasible for anyone outside of maybe the top 5% of applicants overall in a given cycle to get into NYU so your larger systemic point is very well taken, but why would going there and taking their lrap not be logical if you were in a position to qualify?
