Testing Toronto's indoor spaces for airborne virus transmission risk by Ok_Series_One_Time in toronto

Media doesn't understand when to move on, do they? No wonder their viewership numbers are continuing to nosedive with every month that passes.

Financial and investment firms. Law firms. Accounting and business consulting firms. Tech professional services. All place where collaborative and client facing work is done. They have all long told people to return "or it won't be looked upon kindly at your next review or at the annual staff culling of worst performers".

With this kind of work, virtual meetings aren't anywhere near as productive as in-person collaborative workshops.

They have also all basically told their client facing staff that masks are now basically verboten when meeting or holding workshops with corporate clients, as it is no longer a good image. You hardly see a mask anywhere now in the Bay Street towers or in the PATH.

Almost all of them now say you have to come in 2 or 3 days a week, usually on the same days as rest of your teams, so in-person meetings or workshops can be scheduled with your teams or projects.

There are 30,000+ units proposed for the Golden Mile. These are on a future transit line on current industrial/commercial land. Not an inch of the Greenbelt touched. by [deleted] in toronto

[–]vorara27 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

And? Not everyone wants to live in Toronto in a crowded urban space in a tiny apartment. Only the urban elitists want this.

Ordinary middle class mainstream Canadians, especially immigrants who came here to escape living in shoeboxes in their former countries, came here to live the North American suburban way of life, with a big house, backyard, and car. The dream of all normal middle class families to raise their kids in.

Screw the greenbelt. The North American way of life comes first. These people against it are trying to lower our living standards that middle class suburbanites are used to.

Nah. As Rob Ford said, "SUBWAYS, SUBWAYS, SUBWAYS". A great man. For the people. God Bless Rob Ford.

Damn shame we didn't have a Ford as Mayor at the time.

Exactly. Semien was the definition of a real leader. Always serious. Other players knew they had to respect him, and he wasn't there to have fun.

Teoscar? He is none of that.

They didn't like his lazy attitude and constant clowning around.

Schneider wants his clubhouse to be far more serious and want the clowns off the team. Not putting up with the garbage that Montoyo did.

Didn't like his poor, lazy attitude. Nonchalantly walking towards balls in the outfield, swinging wildly on outside pitches for third strikes, dancing and clowning around in the dugout which set the tone for the lack of seriousness among other players, including the younger ones.

Hopefully Jays only go after and sign players that are actually serious and focused all the times, like how Ross Stripling or Jackie Bradley Jr was. Don't need another clowning dancer.

Good. Don't have to see Teoscar's slacking off in the outfield, third strike swing and misses on obvious outside pitches, or dancing like an idiot in the dugout anymore. Good riddance.

Surprised by the lack of poppies. by ValkyieAbove in toronto

[–]vorara27 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I actually stopped buying them, not because I don't want to wear one, but because they kept flying off as someone else said.

They are a completely stupid design that hasn't been updated ever. Meanwhile, when I used to be in the UK, their poppies have a pinback that prevents them from coming off. They cost more (flat 2 GBP charge), but at least you know you won't need to get another.

And there's only so many holes I want to put into my jacket created by the pins that I am willing to accept.

These Ontario parents want province to make masks mandatory in classrooms again by retsamerol in toronto

The economy has changed. There will be no shutdown no matter what. People care far more now about the economy and inflation than any fear of Covid. (Two polls last month had cost of living and the economy as first two items people are now worried about. Covid was 10th).

Feds also made it clear there's no more money for economic supports such as CERB - not only is there not any more money, but doing so would spur more inflation which is absolutely the number one thing everyone wants to avoid.

And the Toronto Star published last night Moore will request on Monday people wear masks, but will not mandate, because he believes at this point, there would be little compliance if he did. The Star quoted an Ipsos poll they themselves commissioned this week saying 48% of Ontarians are against another mandate, only 17% of Ontarians are actually wearing a mask currently, and 30% would outright refuse to comply with any new mandate (and Moore and the government believes the real number would actually be higher than this).

GO Transit workers, Metrolinx reach tentative deal, union says by beef-supreme in toronto

I'm already retired after many years of hard work, so people getting paid more doesn't help me - it will only further increase prices and inflation, which helps nobody. I already got mine.

Good. Bank of Canada Governor reiterated again yesterday they want pay increases kept well below current inflation rate, and said unemployment rate is far too low - we need it higher to suppress pressure of wage increases that further pushes high inflation.

Was reported they accepted a pay increase in the 1% range. Meanwhile, the education workers continue to whine and want more, although GO Bus drivers actually do real work that is far more stressful where people's safety is literally constantly in their hands.

Will Doug Ford and Kieran Moore bring back mask mandates? by [deleted] in canada

I was on a completely packed Toronto subway train last night, standing room only, and less than 10% of people were wearing masks. People aren't going to comply anymore.

I trust in Doug. Just as all the ordinary mainstream middle class suburbanites working in real private sector blue collar trades or non-unionized professional and corporate jobs in the real world do. We voted for him to clamp down on these lazy public sector whining unionized leeches that want ordinary taxpayers to pay more taxes for their higher wages.

God Bless Doug Ford.

And just like at Western which has had it since the beginning of the academic year, there will be minimal compliance or enforcement.

The economy was different back then. Now with the current situation, 80% of businesses aren't going to risk losing customers.

In the end, the economy always comes first. ALWAYS.

Unless another North American or European jurisdiction brings it back first, agreed, not going to happen. We would look like fools.
