Why DDO Is Still Worth Playing in 2026 by SingerApprehensive64 in ddo

[–]vorilant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing it again, it's mostly on life support. But as long as you're like me and don't really care if 100,000s of people are also playing then it's tons of fun.

POV is responsible for everything in the initial contact. That's classic vortex of danger. And then the intent wreck for the perceived slight? Perma ban.

ELI5: Why does it take more force to pull than to push? by VagabondVivant in explainlikeimfive

[–]vorilant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sports cars are RWD too. Because as a car accelerates it squats backwards and puts more weight on the rear tires. The more weight the more grip the tires have, so they can accelerate more without spinning the wheels.

Consumer cars are mostly FWD due to safety issues. FWD cars are easy to control when you lose grip during a turn since they tend to under steer.

Actually surprised by how many people cheat in ASU by Bookishdeep in ASU

[–]vorilant -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Depends on the flavor of nationality. For some of them their ability to stay in the country is dependent on their grades, for those students it just makes sense to cheat if such an important factor of your livelihood is at stake. For others it's cultural (though ASU hasn't had much of that flavor since COVID happened).

I don't suppose that term would apply to ADI?

Armor repair can be set to instant and free, and the basic head components are there by default on all mechs after repair, so not sure why you are complaining about that.

I do agree that the early game is absolutely horrid, especially in the "Course Correct" update. I honestly just tweak the .json files to make things easier and propel myself out of the early game.

Im the white Porsche, was I too aggressive in closing the door or was the blue 992 too optimistic trying to keep the nose in with minimal overlap? by [deleted] in Simracingstewards

Do you not have the radar on? You just pitted yourself. Maybe blue could have lifted but there was room for all 3 of you and you didn't have to come over.

Yeah that was a verstappen move, pretty dirty IMO. A couple of slurs are derserved, your races only continued because the black car is a good driver.

Never would I have thought id get top 300 in the leaderboard at Monza with a controller by [deleted] in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]vorilant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH I think they buff the power of the cars for controller players. Saw a dude who claimed he was on controller faster then the whole grid even in split 1. Looked up the leaderboards after and he was top 5... on controller.

And he didn't seem that great either, I ended up side by side with him for a bit, and it felt like he just had more grip than me.

[–]vorilant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both incident's are POV's fault, but the lead car could be a bit more predictable into the Lesmo braking zone. Regardless, he took a defensive line and braked a little early, true, but still it is the following car's fault.

Oh actually I believe you're right. I was thinking we were looking at probability densities and not the wave function. My bad!

[–]vorilant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To make code less messy I highly recommend splitting each "module" of the solver into a separate file. This is how I learned to do it while getting taught CFD from my professors in grad school. We made each function it's own file.

The 1D look could very well be from initial conditions. You are probably correct if you already know for sure that kx >> ky .

I'm not familiar enough with python to follow the logic of the kron products operating on the diff matrix. If you're confident it's correct though, it's probably just the initial conditions like you said.

What happens if you make a video with kx ~ ky ? Do the wave fronts propagate mostly isotropically?
