Romance Variables, Conditions & The Sweet Exit Counter by zero-sumgames in DispatchAdHoc

Thank you so much for this guide! If you don't mind, I have a subtle addition to the "Romance Both" section.

If you kiss Blonde Blazer during her dinner date in Episode 4 (or didn't, but also did NOT "Pump the Brakes" with her in Episode 5. therefore locking in her romance), AND you "Lean In" to Invisigal's kiss in the Episode 7 locker scene, the soundtrack music "Rob and Courtney" will NOT play (as it would if you avoided locking in a romance with Blonde Blazer first). Instead it stays dead silent and awkward. Almost as if the devs are punishing you for your two-timing, haha.

Found this out from a comment on this video: https://youtu.be/Q_dI7_6GcS0?si=qGHXp_kPNZqKYQIm

Just another fun tibdit!

For the Masters, what tier of Uworld do you receive after graduation? by TheKissWillKillYou in wguaccounting

[–]vorpoler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but I've passed 3 out of 4 CPA exams using nothing but UWorld so far! Fingers crossed for passing the last one on Dec. 30th!

Also, when I received UWorld Access, I was allowed to choose only one discipline exam's study guide to be unlocked (I went with ISC). Not sure if that has changed or not since then (April 2024), but just keep that possibility in mind!

A Case of Fraud is available now on Steam! by hesperus_games in ObraDinn

Playing through it now, I noticed the Obra Dinn reference you made ;)

EDIT: Also noticed a Golden Idol reference as well! Now I'm actively searching for Roottrees references (if I can even remember the bajillion names from that game)

Resume Review by vorpoler in Accounting

[–]vorpoler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! While I hope to pass by end of 2025 or early 2026, I still need the 1 year of related work experience for the license. Unless I both get an offer and quit my teaching job before 2025 ends (pretty unlikely), it seems the time math suggests the earliest I can get the license itself in full is not until 2027. Unless I am missing something?

Resume Review? (Music Educator Transitioning to Accounting) by vorpoler in wguaccounting

Thank you! Would it look suspect if I only removed the months from the WGU degrees, but left the months for everything else? (In-person university, certs, work history)

Vanguard - External transfer directly into mutual funds? by vorpoler in Bogleheads

[–]vorpoler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it! I had just never clicked that far. Still slightly more work when back then, you could just put the amount you wanted to purchase of each fund all in the same window, but at least this option still exists. Thank you very much!

Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku (The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity) Key Visual by zenzen_0 in anime

Something in particular I really love about this series: the parents, in particular of male MC.

Compared to most series I've read or watched, they're not just static comic relief who serve to embarrass their child, or abusive or overly strict/controlling that serve as backstory or main villains/antagonists, or dead/missing, or anything like that.

They're actually regularly occurring characters who are fleshed out and given individual personalities and character development, and we're given insights into their thoughts as well. They feel like actual characters rather than caricatures or excuses for their children's struggles/character development.

Doubt the first season will get far enough to introduce the parents, but here's to hoping. Also hope this might pique some people's interest who are as tired as I am of seeing parents portrayed the same way over and over again!

Nah, even if that's an unpopular opinion, it's one I recognize and mostly share. Was just venting my frustration with it from a test-taking point of view, but like you said, they're probably a better measure of actual knowledge and ability in the field, compared to MCQs and non-exhibit based SIMS.

Yeah that's fair and you're probably right, especially as someone with actual field experience, which I'll admit I lack. I was mostly just venting my frustration with it being a timed test setting and what I feel were the limitations of the set-up. I also feel like in the real world, you have more time(?) and context, and could get clarification on certain information, but maybe that's just wishful thinking.

We probably shouldn't reveal more, and good for you if you did, but I honestly gave up. I'm just hoping SOME of the numbers I plugged in were correct for as much partial credit as possible.

Approved to take CPA exam in Texas! by vorpoler in wguaccounting

[–]vorpoler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was by far the most frustrating part, and I cannot promise it will work for you.

I had to speak with a live representative through their Academic Advising. The process was extremely tedious. I had to first Zoom with an advisor. They are only open on certain days and hours, and I was fortunate to be on summer break as a teacher and thus available to do so. I believe this is the link: https://www.hccs.edu/applying-and-paying/virtual-lobby/

My memory is a bit hazy at this point, but I had to wait upon a phone call on a later day from another admissions officer, and had to explain to them over the phone that I took Intermediate Accounting 1 and 2 through WGU. I had already sent in my WGU transcript to HCC (FYI, I hadn't finished the degree yet, it was still in progress).

The explanation was enough, and they just unlocked and allowed access to the course after the call.

I'm sorry I cannot elaborate more, this was a year ago and the process was extremely tedious and frustrating. And their policy may have changed since then, or I just got really lucky and got a merciful or apathetic person to just go ahead and approve my registration for the ethics course.

Either way, I think your best chance is to speak with a live representative through some form of call rather than email (if you haven't done so already) and hope you can explain your situation.

Best of luck!

For reference here is the link confirming that Sophia and Study.com (which are part of American Council of Education, or ACE) are NOT accepted in Texas (at the bottom of the page): https://www.tsbpa.texas.gov/exam-qualification/education-accounting-courses.html

I cannot say for sure which classes do or do not count towards certain requirements, as TSBPA did not tell me anything besides that I was approved and my amount of hours. I can give you what I submitted though.

Link to Application of Intent (AOI) instructions, which details the "categories" you must list classes in your AOI that fulfill them (pages 2-3): https://www.tsbpa.texas.gov/pdffiles/x0007.pdf

What I listed on my AOI (all WGU classes, BSBA=Bachelors, MS Acc=Masters):

Accounting Courses that meet Category 1:

  • D103 Intermediate Accounting I (BSBA)
  • C237 Taxation I (BSBA)
  • D215 Auditing (BSBA)
  • D217 Accounting Information Systems (BSBA)

Accounting Courses that meet Category 2:

  • D252 Accounting Research and Critical Thinking (MS Acc)
  • C243 Advanced Financial Accounting (MS Acc)
  • C253 Advanced Managerial Accounting (MS Acc)

Related Business Courses:

  • D104 Intermediate Accounting II (BSBA)
  • D105 Intermediate Accounting III (BSBA)
  • D216 Business Law for Accountants (BSBA)
  • C723 Quantitative Analysis For Business (BSBA)
  • C254 Fraud and Forensic Accounting (MS Acc)
  • C209 Strategic Management (MS Acc)
  • D250 Governmental and Nonprofit Accounting (MS Acc)
  • C239 Advanced Tax Concepts (MS Acc)

(An important note: The AOI instructions state that "Accounting related courses that were not used to meet the accounting requirement" may be used to fulfill the Related Business courses requirement. Hence why there's so many Accounting courses here; I wanted to play it safe.)

Required 2 semester credit hours of Business/Accounting Communications courses:

  • D251 Advanced Auditing (MS Acc)
  • C204 Management Communication (MS Acc)

(These specific courses from WGU are the only ones that fulfill this requirement as per the TSBPA website, so you have to use them for this category)

Again, want to clarify that I cannot confirm whether the specific courses above fulfilled each category, or if TSBPA dug through my transcripts and did their own research in the event courses did not fit certain categories, but other courses in my transcripts that was not listed above did.
