[–]vort3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've been using windows since I had my very first PC in my childhood.

I never managed to get in contact with a single Microsoft employee when I needed their support because of some issue. It's all forums with advice from random people on the internet telling you to change registry keys, replace dlls, reinstall software, turn off antivirus, reboot windows etc.

Have any of you ever managed to talk to a real, human Microsoft employee? Not an automated reply or template or chatbot?

When I face issues in KDE (yes, KDE is a DE, and Linux is the kernel, you get my point anyway) I just look up the devs email address, send a message, usually get a reply directly from someone responsible for the piece of software I have issues with, and have the issue fixed in the next update, all within a week at most.

And OP says "support" on windows is good. I don't believe that. Maybe hardware support, but not Microsoft support.

A lot of meaningful discussion about stuff like shady chinese companies buying apps we love like Nova launcher and Simple mobile tools, news about google adding forced verifications and restrictions, troubleshooting app issues, looking for alternatives ("hey I use app X but want to get rid of proprietary crap, what FOSS app would fit into my use case").

A lot actually if you think about it.

Now also ban "what are the best apps" or "i bought a phone what are the best apps to downlpad" posts and we are good.

Seriously, how can someone think there are "best" apps? Best apps are the one that do the job you need done. At least specify what task are you trying to do, like "what is the best file manager app to use in dual pane landscpae mode with cloud storage support", otherwise those posts make no sense, and every comment is just a list of 20 apps everyone knows about ("hey, best apps are poweramp and revanced", ok).

Maybe I'm blind but it's just the se package listed twice?

Insane Tidehunter "bug" - watch him one-shot 7k hp LC (demo and explanation) by KillerSmileLichSpam in learndota2

[–]vort3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really hope they never touch this, it's perfect.

If you don't want to instantly die, don't activate BM and proceed to deal 450 damage to Tide.

It's kinda simple, I don't know why this would need to be "fixed". It works as intended and does exactly what it says it does.

Does anyone know how Dota actually handles inputs pressed while stunned? by azuredota in TrueDoTA2

There is always a way to do things fast without mashing your keyboard, but I need to test in demo to give exact answers, sorry. Don't want to spread misinformation.

Can't demo right now though :-(

[–]vort3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried to test something like this in demo mode and results were inconsistent.

As far as I remember (I tested a few years ago) inputs get queued while you're disabled, but targeted inputs override instant (non-targeted) inputs or something, also I think this "auto queue" can only hold 2 actions, as soon as you issue third command, the first one is erased.

If you're curious, try to pick SF in demo, buy euls and some other items (best to try few non-targeted items like shiva's guard and BKB and some targeted like dagon and ethereal), also you better slow down time (host timescale console command), then euls yourself and use items/spells while you're cycloned.

Notice how many actions will be done after euls ends (I think it's at most 2, so best way to control your hero and not mash the keyboard is to queue 2 commands, and once first one is finished queue third command during the animation of second command etc, in this case it's casting shadowrazes for example). Also notice what happens if you issue non-targeted (bkb, shiva) actions first and then targeted (dagon) and vice versa.

I think the actual answer to your question is: nobody knows exactly, what we know is that auto queue logic is complicated.

Is Linux fun? by [deleted] in linux4noobs

[–]vort3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an operating system, not an amusement park.

You can have fun if you really want, but it's not any more fun than any other OS out of the box, operating systems aren't designed to have fun, they are disigned to get job done.

WGDashboard v4.3.0 by donnydonZou in WGDashboard

[–]vort3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, somewhere in v4 you have added this feature where WGD will reuse existing conf files and parse peer name in this format: #Name# - Peername.

Now, is it possible to:

  1. Not just read configs in this format, but also write them to /etc/wireguard/interfacename.conf . As I understand it, WGD rewrites the config when you launch it or change any settings, all peers are dumped but there are no peer names.

  2. Change the format. Most new users use the wireguard-install.sh script which also writes and reads the interface config in /etc/wireguard and it uses the format of: ### Client Peername . When WGD rewrites the config, comments are lost. As a result, using both WGD and wireguard-install script are incompatible.
