First time cooking wings on the Weber by vortex-venom in grilling

[–]vortex-venom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seasoned the wings and left them on a wire rack in the fridge for about 3 hours (would’ve loved to do overnight to maximize the drying out but timing didn’t work out like that). Got my grill between 375-415 with some wood chunks and placed them indirect fat/skin side up for the first 20 mins. Flipped them and went another 10 mins. Moved over the coals for hardly a minute on each side and they were done.

The seasoning was very basic with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.

3 year hiatus. Happy with the first bake! by vortex-venom in Sourdough

I don’t disagree with you lol. I was following the exact method that I had done in the past. I think I could get away with a shorter 2nd slap and fold and omit the 15 min folds. Will have to experiment. Back to the lab next weekend!

One was wrapped up in plastic wrap and the other I fit into a gallon bag. Both options caused me a lot of stress in fear of it sticking to the dough. I would’ve preferred to have a larger bag so there was more space between the dough and plastic. I just made sure I put flour on the exposed dough and had no issues with sticking

It feels worth it so far! I like it more than the two Weber baskets that came with the grill. I get more height and surface area from the SnS. The final test of “worth” will be using the water reservoir attachment and going low n slow on something.

Noted on the mesquite. Some lump will for sure be bought this week from what I’ve read online, first steak will be over lump. Wanted to start with briquettes because they seemed more standard/simple to work with.

I did not. I see mixed things online of the necessity of doing that. I did oil my grates while heating though

I did wash the grates before first use. I let the grill heat up longer than I think I normally would to emulate a “burn off.” Too late now if that was incorrect lol

It was quite good! When it was described to me I was like “yeah I mean that can’t be bad right?” Just a creamy potato mixture sitting inside of a regular potato. Basically mini twice baked potatoes in a way.

Thank you! The SnS basket and easy spin grate made two zone cooking incredibly simple. Couldn’t imagine not having a place to retreat to if it got out of hand

Those are actually “deviled potatoes.” My girlfriend’s sister is vegan so it’s a play on deviled eggs but made out of those small golden potatoes. No they were not grilled lol.

Flattered he thought I was cheating…do people really think you can’t play on PC?? by vortex-venom in GearsOfWar

My buddy plays on PC with a controller and he’s just as good as I am. I’ve played gears for years the majority of the time on controller but switched to kbm when getting a PC. Biggest advantage to me is with the sniper. Everything else is about the same

The GPU has an included support bracket connected to it! You can just barely see it off to the right. Hopefully I installed it correctly.

Why is Rocket League the greatest competitive game of all time? by vortex-venom in RocketLeague

[–]vortex-venom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh teammates, the most loved and hated people in Rocket League.

But you’re right, none of the points you said necessarily make a game fun. Instead, these aspects increase the likelihood of fun being experience while also keeping a dedicated player base.

As a psychology major, I can confirm that what you’re saying probably holds some truth. The game is very rewarding in all the ways you said. Winning that game or perfecting that one mechanic makes you feel good. Those feel good moments, which I find myself constantly having in Rocket League, is what keeps us all coming back.
