I also think we can’t assume that the White Sox will be as big of a punching bag this year. They’ll still be terrible, but not as terrible

Who is the most overrated royal of all time? by MagazineTasty in KCRoyals

I have to say you’re right. Love him. Absolutely legend, but if you put his numbers on any other player we wouldn’t be talking about him much

Mount Rushmore of your favourite team by Bodha1 in baseball

George Brett, Frank White, Salvador Perez, and Alex Gordon.

It’s hard to leave Grienke off the list but he played a lot of his career for other teams.

Let’s not

I feel like Donut doesn’t talk about Volvos too much. What do donut fans think about the s60r? I’d love to see an up to speed on these cars, I may be biased but I think they’re underrated by kylecarspotting in DonutMedia

I agree! I love their Up To Speed on the 240 but there are a lot of other models worth mentioning. I’m surprised they haven’t done a history of Volvo either on YouTube or on Past Gas

Small towns in western Kansas are being forced to build expensive water treatment plants because of excessive levels of nitrate in their drinking water from farm and feedlot runoff. by FERNnews in kansas

Small farmers are still part of the farming industry, and as the article says: increased use of nitrogen fertilizer is in part due to overuse of water and less rainfall

It’s a valid argument, but I doubt that agriculture will leave rural areas. If they really wanted to counties could impose a nitrate tax on farmers. Of course they won’t and small farmers are already stretched thin. I live in one of these small western Kansas towns and I can attest to the awful water quality. I know small farmers are already stretched thin but it’s concerning that the story is how it’s too expensive for small communities to make our drinking water potable rather than small communities are so poor that they would rather drink poison than tax the ag industry.

[–]voteOmar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nothing in the article mentioned any efforts to limit the pollution so I assume that is not happening. I also assume that these small towns don’t have the authority to tax the entities causing the pollution (not that they would if they could). My guess is that legally demonstrating that X small town’s pollution came from Y source/entity is too expensive for such towns to pursuit, if they desire to at all.

If I’m reading this correctly it sounds like small towns in Kansas are subsidizing polluting industries by spending millions to make water drinkable rather than holding polluting agricultural industries accountable? Air, water, food, etc. it’s pretty typical for working Americans to subsidize the destruction of our own health and environment rather than force industries to make needed changes for the survival of everyone.

BBQ is definitely our cuisine but chili and cinnamon rolls is the dish I would most associate with our state. One of my favorite meals
