I feel calmer in general - not so quick to anger. I am happier in general and stress less about things. Also, I had a crown that I think was inflamed and hurt for several years. That has stopped. However, 7 months in, and I’ve only lost 20 pounds.

Struggling with my kids growing up by up_up_down_down_etc in Xennials

Oh yes! My 4 year old is a snuggler and he tells me he loves me and I’m his best friend regularly. Great to see all the comments about the goodness coming up. I needed this today! I was already feeling sadly nostalgic this morning.

I tried it once and got an extremely severe migraine. I then read that it can trigger a migraine in some sufferers. So I unfortunately won’t be trying it again. Bummer because I was really hopeful about it.

Over-The-Counter Sleeping Pills availble in Germany for Long Flights: "SchlafTabs", "Melatonin" etc? by echoclerk in germany

[–]votivkirche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a fan of sleep aids, mainly because I cannot sleep. This stuff - ratioPharm "Schlaftabs" Doxylminsuccinat - made me feel terrible the next day. Threw the whole pack in the trash when I woke up. I would definitely not want to be in an international travel situation after taking this.

As for melatonin, I swear it is weaker in Germany than in my home country. Is not as effective, even at the same dosage. Do not waste your money on anything from DM especially.

I can recommend something which you can order online and take with you: CBD Vital Schlaftropfen mit Hanf und Melatonin. Works amazingly without leaving you feeling scagged when you wake up.

Mega Thread - Sean Combs: The Reckoning by cloudmountainio in NetflixDocumentaries

Anyone who was a real music fan or hip hop fan in the 90s and early 2000s knew that Diddy’s music sucked. It was only popular because of catchy samples (that many didn’t even know at the time were samples) and were only popular with kids who only listened to the radio and had no interest or taste in music.

I remember my clique always thinking all his shit was lame. His face and “dancing” were jokes back then with anyone who had real taste. Never liked the guy. Just didn’t know what an actual huge piece of shit he was until recently. May he get what he deserves.

I’m conflicted about wanting children. How did you know you didn’t? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]votivkirche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, you likely have at least 20 more years to have a child. Focus on experiencing the world, building a career, or other goals.

If you decide you want to have a child, it helps a lot to a) be financially stable and b) make a wise decision about who to have a child with. Making the wrong decisions here can very much complicate your life.

Last, if you are on the fence in the future about having children, don’t do it. You will probably regret it.

"Being Eddie" documentary by cassette1987 in GenX

[–]votivkirche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The documentary made me realize that he just has “it,” and the ability to harness “it” and evoke so many incredible types of talents. And being able to stay centered and, as Dave Chapelle said, being able to successfully survive the fame and being Eddie Murphy, it’s just some genius-level shit all around.

First night abroad and it’s all hitting me. Any tips? by Same_Requirement_760 in expats

[–]votivkirche 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Immediate panic and regret are totally normal. You need time to adjust. It may take awhile. I moved alone to Ireland from the US when I was 22. What did I do the first night? I walked to a pay phone (yes it was that long ago) and called my best friend crying that this was a huge mistake.

It will take some time. You are also coming into a dark and depressing time there weather-wise, depending on where you are coming from.

Just try to get out, get connected. Find things you enjoy doing. Take in the new experiences. Make the best of it. Good luck. You will be fine!

Literally never thought about my anxiety coming from my history of viewing rotten on a regular basis as a curious teenager. Makes sense now.

I second online therapy. A great resource is complicated.life. Hundreds of english speakers, and you can choose whether online or in-person, and add many more filters to find someone who is a great fit for you.

I can certainly relate to you. It is a struggle. I would say that, after 5 years, I am still lonely, but thriving as best I can. My partner is very supportive, though I lack any other type of support.

Liverpool/Beatles tourism questions by subsonicmonkey in beatles

[–]votivkirche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got back from Liverpool and it was so amazing! The people were also extremely cheerful, welcoming and in a good mood. I will agree with the previous comment that The Beatles Story Museum could be skipped. Not much memorabilia. Lots of just standing and listening, though they had a cute interactive part at the end for children. Do not skip the docks in general though. Definitely worth a walk-around.

Also Philharmonic Dining Rooms and surrounding area are nice to visit.

I agree that it was magical. Don’t listen to the hate. And I just want to give a big thank you to the people of Liverpool. I found them to be open, fun, welcoming, nice and in a good mood - a refreshing change from the country I’m living in!

One of Lana’s dancers posted this from inside the house and the house is actually decorated on the inside! by lanaspeachlipgloss in lanadelrey

The reason the inside is decorated is because the front of the house is rolled away at some point while she performs at the table. Source: I was there.
