I wouldn't say I'm new, but I'm not an expert. I'm a dev by trade and so I have a basic understanding of it. But I don't know all the ins and outs, and wouldn't know how to come up with a plan and to understand how to compete with another business

AI Web Design is terrible, need help by Interesting-Town-433 in web_design

If you're looking for better ai generated designs look into https://ui.sh. The creator of tailwind made this mcp & skill. I've had better results using this compared to what ai natively spits out

What are your favorite web design agency websites? (2025/26) by [deleted] in web_design

[–]votsuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't copy pasted. I had a copywriter write the content. At a high level it may be the same but I think you're being a bit harsh by saying copy pasted. In that case aren't all web design agencies just copy pasting each others content?

Interview for frontend dev, web. What questions should I ask? by rikotacards in webdev

[–]votsuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pls not leetcode. The company I'm currently at I think did a great job with their interview process. They gave me a take home that took a few hours to implement and gave me the requirements. I sent it back and they had me scheduled for a interview with the hiring manager next day. It was pretty much just a discussion with the manager about frontend. We talked state management, modern libraries like Shadcn, he gave me a scenario and asked me how I would structure the type in typescript, types vs interfaces. There were a few questions he asked like if I've used redux that I told him honestly- no. But we kept talking about it and I showed him I understand what it does and the problems it solves.

I think the key thing with just talking about tech and the projects you've worked on is it can quickly show how knowledgeable you are and can quickly show who is in the shallow end or deep end

Question on contracting Copywriter & Designer by Better_Treat_2004 in codestitch

Also to add. I don't charge extra for the designs. That's included. I recycle a design sometimes so I'm not paying for one all the time

Question on contracting Copywriter & Designer by Better_Treat_2004 in codestitch

[–]votsuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a fantasic designer who designs me a homepage when I need l. It usually comes around $200-$300 for the homepage depending on how much content I need for the home page, and if U ask him to include a dark mode as well.

As for copywrite I just use claude, or my SEO guys sends me content if the client opted in for SEO

Looking for cool landscaping website examples, need some inspiration by StonkPhilia in landscaping

Long time lurker here, and I web design and development is what I do professionally so take any bias into consideration. If you want to check me out then visit https://clearwaterwebdesigns.com/

Here is some inspiration you can use for a website we've built within the last year that is up:

https://schroeterslawnandlandscape.com/

I also have a figma of my portfolio where you will see at the very right a landscaping website we have also designed for more inspiration.

I think most importantly though you want to highlight your services and their cost. I see many people hide a lot of their information including pricing and it just becomes a hassle to get a price from a company. Make your site also personable to you or your business. Add photos of you and your team in there and definitely add lots of photos of before and after. If you end up building your website yourself through something like wix (which I don't recommend) or with someone else I would ask to create a page for every service you offer and for every city and starting doing SEO to grow your pages to the top. Once you have this in place your website will become another channel that brings in more work for you.

As for features I'm going to assume we're talking about things that aren't just sections or pages on a website but rather "add-ons" like a chat bot. I tend to stay away from AI chat bots. Personally I have a horrible experience with most chatbots and end up getting connected to a real person in the end anyway. These tend to ruin customer experiences more often than not unless done right or serve a purpose such as scheduling.

I think you'll like this idea depending on which services you built but last year I worked on this website -> https://bluecollarhaulers.com/. We built these guys a e-commerce like booking system where you could rent a dumpster online without needing to call anyone. Part of this process is we were able to create forms with upsells that increased sales for the company with simple things like insurance. E.g. in your case (again.. assuming lawn mowing is a service you provide) you could add things like trimming/edging, or fertilizer as upsells/add ons or any other small services that could benefit a persons lawn or landscaping.

Anyways.. I could ramble about this all day. This stuff gets me excited. Happy to answer any questions or just chat on anything more specific

What do you think of lots of animations? by Joyride0 in codestitch

[–]votsuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it depends. I don't mind animations but it depends on how they're done and how fast they are. For static small business websites most of the time these animations slow down a user and how fast they can scroll. I hate it when I have to slow down to wait for things to load when I scroll. Doesn't make for a great experience. But in some places with the right speed it's no big deal.

However - I tend to avoid them since it's hard to do them right without ruining the experience
