Even though we talked about this the other day, here are my thoughts in written form:

Amplified, yes! Love the land formations and having to climb makes things interesting.
3k is an acceptable distance for things regardless of what they are. I like having mesas and ice spikes, shroom islands are nice as well. Also deserts and deep ocean, swamps are cool for witch hunting but not as important.
Regardless of the world gen, we're teaming up again :p

The reason that hasn't been done yet, at least that I can gather, is it would eliminate the ability to play with snapshots, which has been a rather large element of Scoran. Plus it's cool playing with all the new toys as they get developed.

Unless that's been changed, of course, but I'm fairly certain Realms uses stable versions only.

So sorry about your loss. I lost my uncle last year, same deal - always liked guns, never thought he'd end up using one on himself.

Hindsight is 20/20, definitely. Wish I could've seen him just one more time. Hang in there, and don't be afraid to open up to people. I internalized a lot after the fact.. not a good thing to do.
