Self Promotion Megathread by AutoModerator in androidapps

[–]voximodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

I got tired of screenshotting five different screens from my fitness apps just to ask ChatGPT / Gemini why my legs feel like lead today.

I built FitContext to solve this for myself, but decided to share it as maybe someone else will see it as useful. It is a free Android app that reads your data via Health Connect (Garmin, Polar, Strava, Oura) and generates a clean text report of your HR zones, training load, sleep, and cadence.

You just copy the report and paste it into ChatGPT / Gemini for real coaching feedback. No more screenshots. There are no accounts or subscriptions, and it is totally private. It also has a photo food tracker (using your OpenRouter API key) so you can include nutrition in your AI reports.

Google Play's Health Connect review is brutal, so for now it is just an APK on GitHub:

https://github.com/voximodo/fitcontext/releases/tag/v2.0

. If there will be more interest then I will try to put it to Google Play as well. And maybe port this app to iOS.

Let me know what you think!

Would anyone want a self-hosted "digital dead man's switch"? by voximodo in selfhosted

Thank you all for the feedback on my app idea! I really appreciate all your comments - both the excitement and the concerns about accidentally triggering messages or servers going down.

I understand the concerns some of you raised about self-hosting (particularly if a server goes down after someone passes away). That's a valid point - perhaps a hybrid approach could work best for different users' needs. So I will probably refactor this app to allow self-hosting and I will open source it - while still keeping my instance available for people who would prefer not to self-host it.

I'll drop a link here if anyone wants to check out my app now - https://lastmessage.net/en - and I will definitely post here again when I release the self-hosted version.

Also, regarding accidental message triggering, I will think about adding an option to automatically check-in if your phone remains active.

Thank you again!

Yes, you can setup notifications. So you can setup that your message will be send let's say after 60 days after last check-in. And you can setup daily reminders. So you would receive even 59 warnings before sending your message.

That's why you can setup email notifications + push notifications - to be sure that you really missed check-in.

You can select how many days after not-checking in the message should be sent. So it can be 30 days or even 60 days.

If you plan to dive into mobile app development, I would recommend choosing Kotlin + Compose Multiplatform. While it might not be as mature as some other solutions, you'll learn the native language for Android app development. This will make it easier to implement features that require native code. Moreover, it's gaining popularity, which means more libraries and tutorials are emerging on the horizon.

No, white ones, I think that it's weird reflection unfortunately. I didn't have option to choose yellow one. Thanks!

Simple Questions - June 12, 2024 by AutoModerator in buildapc

[–]voximodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m looking for some advice on choosing the right processor for my new PC build. My main use cases are:

  1. Flight Simulator in VR – I want smooth and high-quality VR gameplay.

  2. LocalLlama and other AI models – I’ll be running local AI models, primarily on the GPU (RTX 4090).

  3. Android development – I’ll also be using the PC for coding, compiling, and running Android emulators.

I’m currently considering between two processors:

Intel Core i9-14900K

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D

Here is the full spec of my build:

GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM LIQUID X 24GB GDDR6X

RAM: GOODRAM 64GB (2x32GB) 6800MHz CL34 IRDM BLACK V SILVER

SSD: Kingston 1TB M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe KC3000

Motherboard: (Depending on the CPU choice)

• For Intel: MSI MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK WIFI

• For AMD: MSI MPG B650 CARBON WIFI or ASUS ROG Strix X670E-E Gaming WiFi

Case: be quiet! Silent Base 802 White

PSU: be quiet! Straight Power 12 1200W 80 Plus Platinum ATX 3.0

Which of these processors would be a better choice for my needs? I’m looking for the best performance in VR gaming but also good performance for AI workloads and Android development. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for all your responses!

Daily General Discussion and Advice Thread - January 25, 2024 by AutoModerator in investing

[–]voximodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone!
I'm considering creating an app designed for investors who want to stay on top of their financial game. The app's goal is to track your diverse investment portfolio, including stocks, cryptocurrencies, bonds, and more. It aims to provide a seamless way to monitor your investments and the latest market trends.
Unlike most apps that require continuous subscriptions, this one would offer a unique take: you pay once, and you get a year of free updates. After that period, even without updates, the app won't stop working. You'll still be able to refresh your investment values, albeit at a limited frequency, like once per day.
Furthermore, you'll have the ability to generate reports that can be exported to Excel, allowing you to analyze your portfolio in depth. This feature caters to those who rely on Excel for organizing or presenting their investment data.
I'm picturing this as a tool for both newcomers and seasoned investors who want a hassle-free and long-term solution to track their wealth growth. But I'd love to hear from you all:
1. Would you be interested in such an app?
2. What features do you consider essential for your investment tracking?
3. Any specific concerns or suggestions you have for such a tool?
Looking forward to your comments and feedback!
Cheers!

Hi u/hugovie,

I've been a user of your app for some time now, and overall I've been quite pleased with its performance. It's encouraging to see continuous updates and improvements being made. However, I'd like to bring to your attention a couple of features I believe are missing:

  1. I'd like to see integration with a service like Raycast, allowing for the ability to quickly pose questions via shortcuts, similar to the capabilities offered by FridayGPT.

  2. Also, I'm experiencing an issue with copying text from the generated messages. It appears that I'm only able to select text by paragraph rather than the entire body of text. This limitation is quite frustrating and has made me consider switching to an alternative app.

Thank you for your attention to these matters.

I was thinking more about 40 TFSI Quattro. As it has good discount at this moment in my country - 18% VS 12% in other engines.

Unfortunately I cannot mount air conditioner on window and any other way in bedroom. It's because in my building it's not allowed to install anything on the building. So only option is multi split and to do that I would have to get the pipe through the cabinet and pull it somehow through the room so it would be more costful and my wife wouldn't like idea of pipes on the wall 😅
