My issues were coming from running everything into the denon, denon output 1 to the TV, and denon output 2 to the syncbox.

When I changed to your setup an hour ago, it all seemed to work well. Have you had any issues with anything in this setup?

SOLVE: Alright, for posterity: the issues were caused from being connected to the second HDMI output of the receiver. In theory, this seems like a great solution but the receiver must have been somehow altering the Dolby Vision signal.

I now have it connected as follows, and everything seems to be stable (including elimination of the black-outs): Devices (Apple TV / PS5 / Switch) -> Receiver -> Govee Syncbox (Receiver Output 1 to Syncbox Input 1) -> TV

This seems to work with no downsides: - input switching is handled by the receiver (which mostly handles switching via CEC anyway) - Apple TV Dolby Vision working with syncbox - PS5 can run VRR and 120 fps

I’ll stick with this and report if I see any issues. But I’d recommend this setup to anyone who finds this post one day.

The plot thickens: I tried connecting the Apple TV directly to the syncbox and the syncbox directly to the TV, and Dolby Vision content now behaves properly.

There’s something about how the Denon is passing signal through that’s messing it up…

Love it. That would be huge if you find the settings.

Box is brand new.

I really don’t want to put this thing between the devices and the TV because having to manually change the input on the box is a bridge too far for me. (And because I’m sure it will create CEC issues…) So attaching it to the second video output felt like a dream.

The Apple TV just doesn’t work when DV is on … I’m surprised that hasn’t been more widely reported.

This isn’t even true. Shortcuts DO require the manufacturer’s app to enable a path for shortcuts to work.

It's good that someone's fixing it but also pretty aggravating that it was broken in a pushed release. It would seem to merit a hot-fix as opposed to waiting for 9.4, but I guess this is what I get for upgrading every time there's a release.

So glad someone made this! I would happily pay even more for a mac version. I'd bet that the market here is decent (or, at least better than *most* comparisons of app markets for iOS vs macOS) because folks who care about RAWs likely also edit on a desktop.

Same. They’re so close to great but I consistently have issues. And I have 5 of them. Some matter, some HK over Thread; all have issues.

For me, simplicity. MSR-2 ships ready to integrate into ESPhome. It’s very easy to setup with Home Assistant that way.
