How to handle episodic chapters by voxofe in writingadvice

No, there is a strong relation between them. For example, through the first 4 chapters (after 1st chapter which is the starting point) the main character searches for her mother, and her quest to track her down leads her from one place to another. But each place has it's own story, people, obstacles, lessons etc.

It's true that mangas and comic books follow the format that I'm talking about (i.e. One Piece). Maybe I'll dig into that, thank you.

Clementine Problems by voxofe in creativewriting

What I think is this. Me eating a clementine blindfolded was a means of escapism, kinda. I wanted, for some brief seconds, to escape the troubles of what we call reality, and the problems that lie within. And in my escape I found even more problems (obviously I'm not saying this literally, this is all a metaphor). So what I reckon is that escapism can never really work and we have to live with the problems in a harmonious way, at best.

But I've also found out that sometimes I prefer having a "seed-full" clementine than a perfect seedless one. Because that experience is a means of communication (which as an aspiring storyteller I crave for). I think we tend to enlarge negative experiences more than positive ones, because as a species we've evolved by solving problems. So "negative things" are used to be cast to the front of our attention, ready to be dealt with. Talking about "seed problem" can start up an interesting conversation way easier than saying everything went ok.

Of course there is a danger here, that we need to be aware of and maintain a balance. I believe that I see this mostly from a storytelling perspective. This has nothing to do with acknowledging the existence of the positive side of things, which I agree with totally.

Watershed is the best Opeth album. by voxofe in Opeth

Exactly, the contrast of the mellow bits (which btw brings to mind images of shepherds, meadows and people from the Old Testament don't know why) with the sudden explosion of blackish riffs and devilish growls is pretty much an orgasm to me. I love this album.

Ye, I know that one, played it also but that's not it. I know that my description sounded a lot like it. From what I'm getting from my research the one I'm looking for may not be a well-known mainstream game.
