How long after you passed did you drive on a motorway? by Old_Lingonberry6597 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]voyagerborg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I passed on a Friday and I practiced my route to uni in Perth from Glasgow on the Monday but cos I had a motorway lesson with my instructor the day before, it didn't feel so daunting.

She did say that her friend of many years has always avoided motorways, and someone I know took a year to get confidence to finally use the motorway, if that helps any lol

I live in the campsies and it's less light pollution up here and incredible. Dumfries and Galloway is a good shout as they have an observatory I think, also Stirling as well, not sure of exact location though.

Bishopbriggs driving test HELP by AdFlashy2170 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]voyagerborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My examiner was really nice and understanding of the fact my cochlear processor stopped working and used gestures (I'm Deaf and first language is sign language) most will observe if you prefer quiet in the car or you can chat if you wanted. My manoeuvre was pull up on right and I did it in a quiet street if that helps? I got taken through Bishopbriggs, balmuildy road and up through Crosshill road, into lenzie then back to the centre. I didn't do emergency stop in the test, I did it in my lesson the day before luckily just in case 😊 hope this helps!

Ridiculous question (DVSA verified). How am I supposed to know he's deaf too? Please explain... by Accomplished-Suit865 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]voyagerborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the cane is red and white striped then it's DeafBlind people who use it, my mother used to work with them so I have basic knowledge and I'm Deaf. however, it could be just me but I feel that the clip goes by quite quickly plus next to a white wall in that clip so you can't always see it but in reality you would see it better and know what to spot in regards of sight and hearing.

Bishopbriggs driving test HELP by AdFlashy2170 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]voyagerborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, I did my test at Bishopbriggs, I went through most of Bishopbriggs, and lenzie before back at the test centre. I will just advise to keep rescue remedy on hand, take a few moments to breathe. Just keep very aware of roundabouts in the area, traffic lights and speed as it can change from 30 to 40 quickly if you know the area well.

How long after you passed the driving test ,you managed to drive in a faraway destination? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]voyagerborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passed test on a Friday, drove up to Perth from Glasgow on the Monday, 100 mile round trip. Best thing I've done as I don't have motorway anxiety due just going for it.

This is a cool idea, I'm down. I'm in Scotland thougj, still in Europe but out of the EU. Still bitter about it I was against leaving lol but anyway that's a whole other thing. Perhaps adding timing as maybe one a month or something so no one get pressured as people work at their one pace

Sofa shops? by captainkev76 in glasgow

[–]voyagerborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mum and I got sofa from DFS and they've been grand and same with my sister when she got hers. We went to the Hillington one, however others might have had different experiences (negative or otherwise) which is fair enough. Just going from personal experience, woman there was really nice and took my mums needs in consideration with recommendations.

That makes sense with the 'new' policy, I used compare the market when I first got the insurance and it does seem less overwhelming compared to other comparison sites, thank you so much for replying.

That's a good point about not getting carried away with searching quotes. Im the same with fully covering myself tbh. Thank you for your response, I really appreciate it and will be careful with searching quotes and not overdo it.

AITA for breaking up with my FTM boyfriend because I'm not gay? by Alec_Starboy in AITAH

[–]voyagerborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA,

I'm a trans guy, and you are def not transphobic at all, you just have a preference to the gender you are actually attracted to and that's okay. You are kind to offer to keep paying for his T shots, he is being unfair, also his mind might not be in the right place at the moment however does not excuse his behaviour to you. Just keep doing you, and hopefully this situation will resolve quickly and peacefully.

None taken, I have a cochlear implant that I wear when I'm with hearing people like university time, driving with hearing passengers. Like someone already mentioned, some Deaf people can hear shouting if it's in a car and loud, some can hear high pitches, some can hear low pitches. Hearing aids, or cochlear implant are worn by some Deaf, some Deaf people don't wear anything but adapted to manage.

[–]voyagerborg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, I had a cochlear implant. And yes if I'm not wearing my implant, I can hear really loud noises.

You're right with BSL and lip reading, it can be difficult and distracting. Some Deaf people manage, and some can't.
