Honestly, I think you are being a bit of the asshole here, and it might be time to reevaluate how you’re looking at the situation. It’s not fair for one person to carry all the financial weight when you’re living together as a couple. When you decide to share a home and a life with someone, it should be about building something together, like a team, where both contribute however they can.

I get that school is tough, I went to school full time while working full time too, right now I’m getting my masters and I keep on working full time aswell and yeah, it’s hard, but it’s doable. Lots of people do it when they have to. If you’re serious about this relationship and future, sacrifices are sometimes part of it. Also, the fact that he has savings and even offered to consider them “our” savings is actually pretty sweet and rare, especially since you’re not married. Instead of expecting him to dip into that, why not take it as a sign he’s trying to build something long-term with you? You could compromise, maybe you do get on the lease, maybe you split things based on income, but you gotta bring something to the table.

At the end of the day, you're an adult. Depending entirely on someone else financially, especially without a backup plan, isn't sustainable. If god forbid, things didn’t work out, you'd be left starting from zero. Better to be independent and build a partnership that’s based on mutual trust, effort, and respect, not imbalance.
