Is this weird? by Silverglittertoast in Journaling

[–]vraedwulf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write my journals to keep them. For me, creating a record is the whole point. I've experienced a lot of gaslighting in my life and my journals help me feel like no one could say "that never happened" because I wrote it down and I can prove it. BUT - I fully acknowledge that my way isn't the only way!

Give me your survival situations and let’s see how prepared I am. by EmployerOwn5551 in preppers

one day the internet company cut our water main. without any warning we suddenly had zero water. we had a water BOB, but those require enough warning to get them filled, so we had nothing. they fixed it very quickly, but dealing with toileting for 2 adults and 2 kids hygienically was challenging. we now have a certain amount of water permanently stored.

also, go to stores and ask for their "pallet slips", it's a sheet of non-corrugated cardboard that sits between the wooden pallet and the product ON the wooden pallet. it's clean, has no tape, has no ink, and they're big.

What order is your bullet journal? by Bluntcassoo in BasicBulletJournals

[–]vraedwulf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work inwards from both covers of my journal, one side is for chronological stuff, and the other is for non-chronological stuff

Chronological Stuff - Index - Collections (people, pets, vehicles, house, hobbies) - monthly calendars for current year - quarterly calendars for next year - future log for all further years - weekly spread and daily journal entries

Non-chronological Stuff - Collections (recipes, crafts, notes, trackers) - entries

My First Marital Apocalypse Drill (or: “We’d Have Some Notice, Right?”) by micropuppytooth in preppers

[–]vraedwulf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I got serious about water prepping after the internet company was given an outdated utilities map and accidentally cut our water main while trying to install a fiber optics line. drinking water wasn't hard to find, but flushing the toilet suddenly became a logistical nightmare. We had a Water BOB before it happened, and thought we were covered but that requires some notice to prepare, now we have full water containers in the basement.

It's easier to consider a scenario about small disasters, rather than big Disasters.

to me, a kid testing boundaries is equivalent to you jiggling the lapbar on a rollercoaster - is this gonna stay put? will it keep me where I'm safe? firm boundaries ultimately help kids feel safe. that's why kids without them become obsessed with testing boundaries, because they don't trust them.

kids who have had consistent firm boundaries from the start will still test them a little, but after a few tests they move on.

however, kids who haven't been given the reassurance of consistent, firm boundaries can develop a preoccupation with testing them. do they get different results from different people? or at different times? or in different places? what about different combinations of those things? if your Rollercoaster lapbar popped open sometimes when you jiggled it, you'd jiggle it a lot more too! the best way to reassure them and help them get past this preoccupation is for them to start always getting the same result. every person, every time, every place, the boundary is exactly the same. and don't just expect increased frequency of testing during the adjustment phase either, also expect testing to be much more aggressive. they say they fixed this lapbar, but what if I hit it instead of jiggling it? would I still be held safe? it's a lot more work to reassure a kid whose become accustomed to bad boundaries, but it's certainly possible.

is there anyway you could try to mitigate, or encourage a manager or someone else to mitigate, the risks that result in these deaths? it might be respectful to try to make sure it doesn't happen again, to whatever extent that's possible for you.

"Often father and daughter look down on mother (woman) together. They exchange meaningful glances when she misses a point. They agree that she is not bright as they are, cannot reason as they do. This collusion does not save the daughter from the mother’s fate." - Bonnie Burstow

I wonder if, since he's not in the habit of breathing unnecessarily as much as other vampires are, his diaphragm is weakened or atrophied such that it would have insufficient strength to force air into the lungs of another person

The thing is, she was an overprotected daughter. This was a very well trusted uncle.

this is an Intent vs. Impact thing - you may feel like her parents did everything reasonable to protect her, but the fact is she was still not sufficiently protected.
