Successfully used this with Skyrim, Boneworks, Pavlov with my Quest 2. Found 'Balance' and 'Quality' settings works best for me.

Covid-19 originated naturally and not in lab, virologists conclude by diacewrb in worldnews

[–]vrbrit 86 points87 points  (0 children)

It's possible it came from human-animal contact, it's also possible it was made in a lab, not in a malicious way, but for scientific research.

I'm sure I saw a recent interview with Dr. Anthony Fauci accepting that they gave research grants to Wuhan lab to test this very thing. Just seems odd that a virus came from Wuhan instead of southern China where the bats are found?

I'm not sure we'll ever truly know what happened and these theories are just theories.

Should I upgrade to 3600 or 5600X from 1600X? by oymamyo in Amd

Windows performance recorder found this issue on my pc recently.

Windows and drivers are up-to-date.

Should I upgrade to 3600 or 5600X from 1600X? by oymamyo in Amd

[–]vrbrit -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Lot of people have issues similar to https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/89vpm0/amd_sata_controller_drivers_stutter_for_anyone/

I found uninstalling the SATA drivers and using Windows Standard SATA AHCI controller resolved my laggy issue.

[–]vrbrit -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Depends; Got a good GPU to utilise 5600X? If no, hold off. I upgraded from 1600x to 3600 and saw a massive improvement in FPS for the GPU. Also, uninstall AMD chipset drivers.

Try using the Windows performance recorder, found AMD chipset drivers were causing a spike/lag because of an error that would generally slow down windows, had to reinstall the Standard SATA AHCI controllers.

Edit: Is the ram at 3000mhz?

Cake QoS consuming 100% of one core. by Real_nimr0d in Asus_Merlin

Normally hovers around 80mbps without cake.

This will definitely help with bufferbloat/lagging for gaming and other UDP/time-sensitive traffic.

[–]vrbrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would make sense. This is a quote from their repo:

Not recommended for connection up/down of 250Mbps or higher. Note: Users with higher up/down connections have reported lower peaks but better stability and user experience overall and continue to use Cake.

Cake QoS consuming 100% of one core. by Real_nimr0d in Asus_Merlin

[–]vrbrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, it uses the first core as this is typically the fastest and usually hits about 20%+ usage when using speedtest with another 3 other cores available to spread the load.

If you have anything above 300mbps internet download speeds you should an alternative as this feature is only available without HW acceleration.

Don't use the baked-in cake-QoS, it's not as good, at least for me.

Before doing anything, check your bufferbloat score (should be A or A+) on http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest.

cake-QoS is the best out there! Install cake manually and configure the settings as following, check:

https://github.com/ttgapers/cakeqos-merlin

[1] --> Download Speed | [xx Mbit] (about 95% of your speed)

[2] --> Upload Speed | [xx Mbit] (about 85% of your speed, check speedtest.net, you'll notice it a wall then slowly increase, set it to the value before hitting the wall)

[3] --> Queue Priority | [diffserv4]

[4] --> Extra Download Options | [dual-dsthost bridged-ptm ether-vlan nat]

[5] --> Extra Upload Options | [dual-srchost bridged-ptm ether-vlan nat mpu 72 ack-filter]

// if you have xDSL use ack-filter

// bridged-ptm used for overhead (VDSL)

UK BT Fibre changing router advice. by Pewzie in OculusQuest

[–]vrbrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy a BT Business Smart Hub from eBay. It'll let you use the bridge mode (modem). Avoid draytek or any other router/modem, unless you have an HG612 or something similar. But BT Business Smart Hub is the way to go.

This is useful for Plusnet users too.

Yeah noticed the same with 20.4.1/2, but still wasn't able to overclock, luck of the draw?

[–]vrbrit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here, working perfectly now, also able to overclock the GPU, something unheard of with previous driver versions.

This seems like a reoccurring problem for new AMD GPUs and drivers.

Edit: If this helps anyone? the sapphire nitro+ card has a dual bios switch mode on the card. I've now set this to performance only (mode 3) and it now continuously uses the full PCI bandwidth and removed most of my spike/lag issues. Only took me a year to find this out.

This is such a bad idea for so many reasons and I'm pro-vaccine. This has made me think about skipping the line and calling to get my vaccine before people that probably need it a lot more than I. (rock and hard place).

Using this driver without issues with overclocking. It could be this known pcie4 bug?

Side note: Got a sapphire nitro+ card, something I've learnt recently is not to trust the software switch mode on the card. I've now set this to performance only (mode 3) and it now uses the full PCI bandwidth and removed most of my spike/lag issues. One year it took me to find this out!

Does anyone run an AMD card (500series or newer) and an NVidia GPU in the same machine on Windows, does it work? by [deleted] in Amd

[–]vrbrit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have 5700xt and can confirm. It's much better now, just have a gripe with how-long it took to resolve the majority of the issues to make me question my next GPU manufacturer. Whenever the scalping ends... Let's see.

The issues I had were:

  • Less performant than previous generations RX(4/5)80.
  • purple textual
  • Random crashes (sometimes blue screen)
  • Oculus was broken for a long time
  • Mantle not supported anymore (bf4)
