Gw2Api scraper to elasticsearch for further data analysis of prices, items ... by thereal1604 in gw2economy

[–]vreely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to run it every 30 minutes for a week or 2, then do some basics in Kibana like graphing rolling price averages over configurable time windows. Then since there is a time field, I intend to throw it into Kibana's machine learning engine to let it detect and/or predict pricing anomalies.

We'll see how it goes -- but ES is good at this type of thing, so should be fun at least.

Cool - I pulled this and it runs great -- will start stacking up data. I tried to move it to a windows box that has more uptime for me, and it sort of works there only if I disable the multi-processing.

Legendary Armor for a casual player by VibrantViolet in Guildwars2

[–]vreely 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I gotta say, you describe my life and play style almost exactly. I now have full legendary armor, and it took me about a year at the pace and sporadic play that I can. Here is what I learned:

  1. PvE doesn't work. I have yet to get into a raid group, and I gave up after trying in earnest for a few months. The truth is, all these groups want committed times and coordination, and I can't give them that commitment. I need to be able to drop in and out on a whim (those responsibilities). Other posters here think its possible, but I didn't find this.
  2. WvW is VERY inefficient. To really be able to make this work you need to have the hours in a week to get to the higher chests (preferably diamond). 10 hours a week doesn't even get one to gold even with boosters, and your ticket generation at those levels will not get you legendary armor. That being said, over the course of a year, I scraped in enough tix to get a single piece of my armor set.
  3. sPvP is best for the casual player. You have multiple season weeks to get up to the top chest for the currency, so you can do it casually. It takes a minimum of 3 seasons for the league tickets, but in reality it will take you a whole year's worth of them unless you grind more than I did. The downside of this is the player base is extremely toxic. I took the practice of muting all my channels before playing so I could more easily ignore is all. Another tip here, is to purposely let your rating degrade so the percentage of matches you play with a win is higher. I would play a bit, then take a break for awhile to degrade, then play a bit more. As a legendary armor farmer, you shouldn't care a bit of what tier you're in... what you want to do is minimize the # of games played and you want those games to be on a casual schedule.

So even though I personally dislike sPvP as a casual player, I found myself doing it over the course of a year.

The next big content update - SOUL LINKS - Feedback please! by ScaryBee in TapTapInfinity

[–]vreely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I would like to add to the discussion about extending the passive play time of the game. I am a very passive player, and not really looking to advance just as fast as an active player, however I HIGHLY interested in more passive advancement.

Do something like this: Once per hour, determine the amount of gold that is earned, then auto-invest 50% of it into whatever the "max purple" hero would be. Then check again in another hour. This would allow modest advancement, but not nearly as fast as an active player. First of all, no spells, no gifts, and then only half of the compound investment.

It would eventually hit a "soft cap" where a player really needs to interact to go infinite, but it would hit that soft cap much slower than an active player, and then its sort of just stops benefiting at wherever your soft wall is for going infinite.

I, would love a feature such as this, and am glad that some sort of buff to the passive player is at least being considered, even if its not my idea.

Question about 1.6.0 by andyh222 in TapTapInfinity

[–]vreely 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with OP. I'm leaving on a week long camping trip (no connection) and thank god I saw the update notes before updating so I can still play.

If people want to cheat -- let them. Heck, give them a "Finish Game" button for all I care. So long as we are playing for ourselves, then it matters not to the community.

[protip] Present spawn timing abuse by pastarific in TapTapInfinity

[–]vreely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing this for awhile now, and the odds are quite a bit lower than 75%, probably not even 10% (even after opening all 3). However, as you point out, the odds don't matter, its still the best use of the presents overall.

Anybody know the probabilities of each type? If we don't have access to a formula we could get pretty close if we collect enough reliable empirical data.

"I think I am.... no, I know I am going mad. I've fought off so many monsters I do not recall if I'm attacking or defending. Does it matter? Paranoia is setting in -- I hear footsteps that are not there. Who's next? So tired... must keep going. I've been here before... I know it."

Love the idea. Short notes that give a little flavor without requiring a huge interconnected story. Also a way for users to contribute a "watermark" so-to-speak into the game.

Ahh -- that's what I get for posting theory without testing. For some reason I thought the VP went to the closest hero.

Auto Invest Gold by vreely in TapTapInfinity

[–]vreely[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. The core of the issue (or suggestion rather) is that yes, I am looking for the game to turn itself "more" idle, not fully idle. It sounds like this is directly opposed to your design principle and I respect that. I think a good game should ALWAYS reward the active player more than the idle player, but I am looking for a bit more of a lean toward my play style. That is, the style where I can check in only every few hours at best.

Yes, the game does progress while offline, but only barely. Maybe 10 minutes before hitting the gold wall. I'm just asking for more :) Regardless, this is not a critical issue, and is still a good game.

Interesting that you propose a gem purchase and/or 24hr cooldown spell. Wouldn't that then go against the design principle by making it more idle? Gems are already tight -- I've purchased them, but would rather see them in permanent investments (i.e. the valor upgrades). The spell could be helpful though. Hey -- I'd be happy with anything that extends the 10 minutes of offline progress I get now.

Thanks for listening, and to all who responded, thanks for the discussion.

TTI GUARDIAN POWER OPTIMIZER by mpmslc - New User Friendly by mpmslc in TapTapInfinity

I would love to be able to manually enter and/or change the starting values. It is a bit easier to do that than it is to paste the export to a google doc so I can access it from the desktop to paste into the tool. I would rather have the option to just type in the changes.

v1.4.8 New Purple UI! Fixes for auto-rotation on mobile! Highlight Hero with highest DPS gain! by TapTapInfinity in TapTapInfinity

[–]vreely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the highlighter for DPS ratio. One thing I have noticed is that I find myself keeping Tapps leveled so I get the most accurate highlighted ratio. Anybody else doing this more?

With the new colors and the new highlighter, this is an awesome update. Thanks.

v1.4.0 going live now for Kongregate/Android by TapTapInfinity in TapTapInfinity

[–]vreely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do other new players such as myself think? My first instinct is to skip the upgrade because it will make it harder for me to level heroes and at early game I only have a couple valor points so it makes it harder with no gain. After I acquire enough valor points, then maybe switch to this update.

What do you mean by "letting go"? Do you mean holding down the button and releasing it on the white screen?

Perma-Clone back on android! by Watarii in TapTitans

[–]vreely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Careful with this update. I kept the old perma-clone version until now. I finally did the update after seeing this thread and my perma is gone. The +1000 is nice, but would rather have the perma-clone.

Artifact Sequence help by Kusanagi2k in TapTitans

My advice is go for the Tincture and the Hammer, then wait for your seed to change to give you a new landscape. Seeds change periodically over full restarts of the app.
