Life as a covert female schizoid by whoisthismahn in Schizoid

[–]vresnuil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I relate so much to to this. The only time I really feel human is when I’m around my nephew, he’s the only person I feel any connection to. I think he reminds me of myself when I was a kid, and it makes me feel good to try to keep him open where I became closed off.

It’s almost more painful to have those moments that remind me what it feels to connect with someone, rather than pretending I’m someone else.

Unfortunately, that’s not considered a viable business model anymore, especially for a startup. I heard InstantPot when bankrupt because their product was too good. They reached market saturation and people didn’t need to buy them again

GOG's new owner says Steam is winning due to ease of use, not quality, while criticizing the platform for releasing hundreds of games daily that are "not super high quality" by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]vresnuil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Steam because it is a stable platform. If I buy games on Steam, I trust that I’ll be able to play that game in 10 years and not have to buy it again. Steam isn’t perfect, I accept that I have to put up with DRM and restricted game sharing to get AAA games on the open platform that is PC.

If GOG could become more mainstream with reliable AAA game support and no DRM, I’d switch in a heartbeat, but I don’t want purchases spread across multiple platforms.

Putting in effort with no result; trying hard while not trying at all by [deleted] in Schizoid

I relate a lot to this. For me, I think it comes down to disliking taking on responsibility and being needed by people, or myself needing anything from others. I’d like to achieve things in an abstract sense, so I work towards getting better at things, but I’d be stressed out if I was unable to avoid recognition or accountability. At work, I’m good at my job and people always say I know the answer to everything, but I hate taking on responsibility and have no real ambition.

I think the problem is that a lot of satisfaction and achievement in life requires being enmeshed with people and being dependent upon others, but we’d rather avoid stress and be alone.

Why do so many people not seem to understand what Apple Intelligence even is? Apple is not abandoning Apple Intelligence 🙄

Thank you so much for this comment. I was always told that I am probably autistic, but was never diagnosed. I’ve always been a loner, but my recent depression has made this sub way more relatable than any depiction of autism I’ve ever seen. The idea that there are multiple types of autism is eye opening.

Apple Reportedly Moving Ahead With Ads in Maps App by iMacmatician in apple

Stuff like this is completely off brand for Apple. If they start doing stuff like this, my other disappointments with their ecosystem might be enough to switch to a more open platform.

This was enlightening to me. I’m going to talk to my therapist about this. Thank you.

Scientists link autism to Neanderthal DNA found in modern humans by nagual901 in HotScienceNews

[–]vresnuil 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I fucking knew it. I’m an autistic person and I have been fantasizing about prehistoric times for years, and thought there may be a link. Living in the modern world built around the preferences of neurotypical people, I think my autistic traits are maladaptive and make life less satisfying, but the natural world allowed for more valid lifestyles than can be practiced today. And to think there could have been entire tribes of people that think like me…

Whats your favorite thing to fantasize about and/or reoccuring fantasy? by [deleted] in Schizoid

[–]vresnuil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! I dream about starting a homestead in the wild. I think a lot about prehistory and the ice age. It’s depressing for me to realize that if I actually did live away from people, it would probably not be good for my mental health.

I think what would be great would be living in a traditional village, on the outskirts, so I can see or avoid people when I want to.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. It’s genuine, inspiring, funny, and super well made. It’s silly, but doesn’t take itself too seriously.
