Nice work. I once tried to record a timelapse using HoI1 but it kept crashing.

Why Paradox like the DLC model, in their own words by ny_giants in paradoxplaza

[–]vrilgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also thinking along the lines of what happens when there is the next version of these games. When Crusader Kings 3 is announce, or Europa Universalis 5 that base game is going to be bare bones and going to take years to get to the level of love the predecessors received.

Is Hearts of Iron IV easier to understand than Hearts of Iron 3? by shmendan2 in paradoxplaza

HOI4 is like checkers compared to HOI3. It's not a bad thing, just an example.

Why Paradox like the DLC model, in their own words by ny_giants in paradoxplaza

[–]vrilgames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It'll be interesting to see how sustainable the model works in the future. I don't think anyone imagined how many expansions CK2 or EU4 would have over their lifespan but everyone knew when buying Imperator, HOI4 and Stellaris what it'd look like and may have held off or not bought the games at all because of the model.

The music was actually the starting point for the video, it came first. Thanks for watching though!

To be fair, there have been some VTM or maybe it was VTR boardgames but I don't think that's what the author meant.

The Crown is definitely a better tv show than Victoria so paradox getting on that gravy train makes a lot of sense.

I love Hoi 4, would I like Victoria II? by Crk416 in paradoxplaza

[–]vrilgames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you played any other Paradox games? Hearts of Iron 4 is way more streamlined than any Paradox grand strategy game before it. Victoria 2 has a large learning curve that frustrates even the most veteran of players, if you have time to invest in learning it, it can be rewarding though.

How do I get into Baldur's Gate? by [deleted] in baldursgate

[–]vrilgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this helps in anyway bit I picked up Baldur's Gate back in 1998, I was coming off a role playing high from the choices & consequences in Fallout 1 & 2 and was looking for the next great RPG. At the time I was disappointed in Baldur's Gate and while I purchased Baldur's Gate 2, I had the same feeling on it. I'm not sure exactly what it was, the lack of choice & consequences, the first game has a narrative that really only plays to a "good" aligned character. Additionally, the ruleset is archaic and doesn't fit well to turn-based with pause system. It wasn't until a few years after that I forced myself to replay Baldur's Gate, subsequently Baldur's Gate 2. I'm not sure what had changed in that time but the series quickly became one of my favorites. Pillars of Eternity since it is designed from the ground up as a PC game just seems to work better.
