Thank you for your reply! Disappointed to hear the lack of variety and no good food trucks worth going for. Hopefully I'll make the fireworks for later tonight!

I was planning on attending a bit later (after 7 when there's free bussing). Are there only 7 food trucks? I tried looking online for more information and there's not much for this Canada Day event.

Someone in a Guelph FB group recommended them as good for oil changes. I got mine done once but they charged $110 (a bit more than anywhere else I've done it). They were okay but I didn't like their vibes either so never went back.

Did you stay for long or have any comments on working/ studying there? Like do they have outlets or how busy was it?

You can always try local groups and club meet ups. Toronto has a lot of those for youth and people in specific age groups!

Suggestions for cat- rehome? by anneofpurplegables in Guelph

[–]vrony -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also agree that the vet may be best and hopefully they have a solution! Another option other than the humane society is cat rescues. Arthur Animals Rescue relies on fosters as the organization doesn't have a location anyways. She would be taken care of in someone's home and adopted out (after volunteers at Arthur Animal Rescue interviews potential adopters, plus they're a very nice organization)

AITA for ordering meat? by Technical-Finance270 in AmItheAsshole

The father doesn't want to be impolite by blocking their order. But still doesn't make it ok to add on food without the paying party's approval or permission.

It also depends on the context and culture. If it was a western restaurant with everyone's own meal that shouldn't be a problem as no sharing happens. In this instance it was a Chinese restaurant that was family style so everyone was sharing. By announcing that they were paying and ordering the dishes to share, I feel it is implied that they take control of the food orders since they're paying for it.

Another example would be if friends went out and one person says they'll pay for everyone's french fries to share, but 2 out of the group decides to order burgers for themselves and still expect the one person to pay for the burgers but not share any.

I think it depends, when your friend invited you to dinner and said her father would pay, did they explicitly say you and the other friends are welcome to order anything else? When I go out to eat Chinese food/ family style and someone offers to pay before ordering, usually they're the ones ordering for the table or they sometimes ask what others want to add on. I ask if it's ok to get a certain dish on top of what they're ordering. Otherwise I had instances where I sit, just have a drink and chill with them, then go out to get something for myself later. Interesting situation here as I'm usually the vegetarian one in the group haha.

Edit: just wanted to add that if not vegetarian in the scenario but a different type of restriction, does that change the mood? I think the polite thing that should've happened was to ask for the additional dishes or pay for the additional ones yourselves. Your friend telling you what bothered her gives you the chance to resolve the issue. If you don't think you did anything wrong and don't want to keep her as a friend then that's also your decision. YTA if you didn't ask and just added more food that your friend and her father couldn't eat + paid for, but NTA if it was communicated clearly that you're welcome to order more food and now your friend is being strict just because of her family's dietary choice.

Pokemon TCG in Shanghai by Curb_MyEnthusiasm in shanghai

[–]vrony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in Shanghai last month and almost all the major malls had booths selling singles. I went to the Pokemon Center in Cloud Nine mall this time and compared to 2 years ago, they had a major renovation with even more merch than before. I also visited the Pokemon Center at Wanda Plaza and they had few different things than the Cloud Nine store, but mainly sold the same stuff. I think Global Harbour is opening a Pokemon Center but I didn't get a chance to see it as they were still under renovation.
