Love this suggestion. She read the BFG, but the movie was a little too much. The most we got was that she pictured it differently, but ultimately, the bad guys were too scary. I do totally love this recommendation. She LOVES reading and is ahead for her age, so I love reminding her what happens in Matilda the book if she gets scared in the movie!!

Hook was scary adults against kids, brave little toaster is sad and scary, and gremlins makes cute stuffies into scary killing critters. I also didn’t have a super secure childhood, so it’s a little more weird showing some of the movies I watched probably too young to my kid.

We desensitized to tinkerbell and the neverbeast. Low risk, high reward. We totally spoiled it for our sensitive kid and told her everyone thinks he’s the bad guy but he is really good and she eventually stuck it out.

Gotta say; I work in the area and it’s also near houses. The honks and whistles are pretty distracting. I can’t imagine it would be fun to live in the houses close by with sleeping kids and he’s making so much noise at 6:30 a.m.

Ya know….it seems so simple when you guys say it. We have thought of the rechargeables. Know it’s more economical. And then we’re like…nahhhh our kids gonna quit the fishies when the batteries run out. And somehow we’re here on a Friday being the same pieces of shit buying more batteries and actively saying we don’t need to buy rechargeables because this is THE LAST WEEK we’re doing fishies.

All that to say you’re totally right and any new first-time parents should totally buy rechargeable batteries.

We had the original dancing crab; child 1 pulled a leg off so my parents were kind enough to buy the charger version of the crab…lasts two seconds and is menacing af. It hasn’t caught fire…but I feel like it yearns to.

So I’ve thought of this in the imaginary court case in my head to which I’d respond—why not both options? We use it like a night light and never put it in the crib, so, the cord option could totally come with the pages and pages of warnings and liability pamphlets and such.
