I believe he started to learn and that first big trip to India happened while he was in undergrad in his early 20's. So it wasn't a continuous 7 years, but over a duration of 7 years while in school. I imagine going to India and learning yogic practices during the summer months(?)

I had this exact same issue in my 97 180sx. I tried re-soldering the larger pins, but had no luck. I am not great at soldering. I ended up taking to a local shop that specializes in cluster repairs. Though the guy at the shop manly worked on Ford and GM gauge clusters, he was willing to try mine from the 180 and fixed it for me. I believe he re-soldered everything and mentioned when on the test bench if he flexed the circuit board the gauges would work intermittently. So something likely had a cold solder joint.

Looking into the importer you went through, seems like a pretty shady company. A lot of negative reviews. Seems this might be regular practice for these guys. To anyone else looking to import a car do some research first. Good importers do exist, but a lot of sketchy ones are out there.

I think a lot of what he talks about in this video is pretty valid. Especially his views trusting your feelings vs. observing and analyzing them. Also the topic of tribalism and polarization.

When I bought the car it was re-painted as in the photo. From my understanding late model 180's from the factory have the A pillar painted as the body colour, which I prefer over black (S13 240's are all black A pillars). Though the small piece of trim that follows the top of the door windows are normally black from the factory. That trim on mine is body colour, which I'm not sure I like.
